Some of our pro's need to start acting like one

I recently had an experence on this board that really bothered me. After giving what I thought to be reasonably sound advice I had my reply reposted by someone who posts as a very experenced ford tech. He was nice enough to point out that my suggestion was wrong but then made no attempt to help with better information. I think its time for a little common sense with some out there. It is nice to have fun and it is always a help to make sure that if someone is making a mistake that it gets straightened out. But to just come on and say something is wrong without the common decency of giving up the correct information is just dumb. If you are a professional then you should have enough pride in yourself and your profession to want to help.

my response to that would be "prove it"

if someone tells you that you are incorrect, they have to prove it. "Because I said so" isn't a valid arguement.

So you are correct until proven incorrect.

J-150 is incorrect.

As for proof, well J-150 let's begin with the obvious. First of all it's 'F-150' I mean how could you have messed that up?

FYI, my name is mockery of every manufacturer that used a variant of letter-150

Chevy C1500
Dodge D50, D150 etc
Toyota T100
etc.

I think Ford owns the letter-payload thing. They may not have been first, but they have kept the name consistant for over 50 years.

Anyway, Pestco1, don't you feel better now that you got it off your chest (and Raoul has completely ignored your feelings!)

Whoever it was, I hope they go back to that thread and apologize for your sake, and also because I read these things and rely on them! This is a very informative place, I have found.

If a "pro" is telling someone they are wrong about something but don't offer a correction maybe they aren't all that good a "pro".

I agree with "prove it".

These boards are great but it's a good idea for everyone to verify the information. This site is full of information but we don't know all that much about who it's coming from. Most of the time responses will point us in the direction of the correct information ourselves anyhow.

I wasn't really all that upset about being "wrong", only that someone would tout 19 + years as a ford tech and not want to help out with better information. I have a few years turning a wrench professionally but not ford dealership experence. I worked in an independent shop and had to work on just about anything that limped or got towed in. Have been on the BAT board for a while and see a lot of good advice and helpfulness from all the wrenches there. Just thought that this board could be the same way.
