Stupid Dixie Chicks!
legokids
The only thing impressive about your rambling is that it demonstrates that you are indeed even more clueless than you initially appeared to be. And by the way, it always does help in a debate to demonstrate your respect for those with differing opinions by calling them names. I'm embarrassed as an American that a former representative of our country (YOU) shows such little respect for others that he starts the name calling. And don't try to weasel out of it, as in your very first post you used the term "dufus." You should be very proud of yourself.
Again, I believe (maybe through no fault of your own, maybe you just aren't someone who's among the best and the brightest) again you demonstrate the same fallacy in your argument.
Let's take it a baby-step at a time so legokids can understand it as well as the other "dufai" (presumably myself included) can understand:
The Dixie Chicks, entitled to their own opinion, make a statement. legokids states "she said was reeeely stooopid (I spelled those words slowly so you wouldn't have to move your lips quickly) but within her/their rights." I believe what legokids is saying in his "educated' fashion is that he thinks what they said is ridiculous, but they are entitled to their opinion and are simply excercise their rights as an American.
Then we get down to our opinion. Many decide that they would like to show their opinion by NOT buying a product rather than making a verbal statement back to them. legokids then replies that by doing so we are "trashing" the Constitution by our "silliness about boycotting them."
So the Dixie Chicks aren't trashing the Constitution because they had an opinion and took an overt act based on that opinion, but we are trashing the Constitution because we have an opinion and are going to take an overt act based on that opinion.
Then, in typical liberal fashion, legokids rambles on about other people who should be "punished." This is a typical liberal ploy, if there are enough wrong acts elsewhere that didn't get punished, don't bother with this one, or you must chase all of them or give this one up.
legokids then judges our patriotism, and you can see really where he is going with this. He is essentially trying to push his opinion (about the Administration, etc.) on us. He wants to shut everyone up (look at my military service, you don't have any), tell us we are wrong to boycott the Dixie Chicks, and sell us his side of the story as gospel.
The only thing I have to say about legokids' behavior is that it makes his military service laughable. As my father (a war vet) always says "the real men died over there, the pussies came back..", so don't toot your horn too loud... It's a shame that legokids thinks that his military service (in which the price he paid was a joke compared to others including many men in my family) entitles him to tell us what is patriotic. Hey legokids, who get's to speak on behalf of my two DEAD uncles who died in combat? I guess only the ones who survived through luck and/or cowardice (or didn't even see combat) get to ramble on and pretend like they are better than everyone else.....
In very simple terminology, you are keeping the Constitution alive (i.e. showing patriotism) every time you exercise your 1st Amendment right and voice your opinion. The Dixie Chicks did so. We, as consumers, are showing our patriotism by voicing our opinion by not buying products that we don't want if we don't agree with the "seller's" opinion.
01 XLT said it in the most simple fashion and said it best at the beginning of this thread. They have the right to say it, we have the right to not buy it. The exercising of both rights is admirable, and is what America is all about....

I am getting a little tired of anyone Canadian or otherwise being savagely attacked here for voicing a dissenting view.
That is NOT the American way
Those that profess to be so patriotic would be wise to remember that.
I am certain you will get your pound of flesh.
Be patient.

Now, let it be guys, let's agree to disagree. Let's keep the discussions civil, and for Gosh sakes keep the posts a little shorter. It's hard for my feeble mind to keep up.
contacted local radio station
I sent an email to one of the local radio stations here in Kentucky and here was the reply:
Radio stations reply:
Uh, no. All 3 Dixie Chicks members are from Texas.
I haven't control or authority to "ban" them from our
radio station. Forgive me for asking, but why were
you offended by Natalie Maines remarks? And if you
don't mind, may I use your comments on the air?

Here is my reply:
Andrea,
I would have to say that they are two faced in my opinion. First that say nothing about the oncoming war here in the states (none that I am aware of). But when they face a crowd in England, they supposedly come out of the closet and come down on Bush which in turn shows their stance that they are against the war in Iraq. People who are against this war in Iraq are anti-American. To understand more, Please read this thread from an F150 message forum:

Thanks
I will keep you posted on the responses to see where this goes.

Andrea from WBOL:
I'm going to have to disagree with your comment,
"people who are against the war with Iraq are
anti-American". NOBODY is for war. However, we
support our troops, including the Dixie Chicks lead
singer.
There are people who don't agree with Charleton Heston
and his beliefs about the NRA, but that doesn't mean
the networks ban his movies, etc.
It's a first amendment right and we enjoy these
artists for their crafts - not their opinions and if
it's bothersome, you don't watch the show or purchase
their music. With all due respect, we're not going to
punish all of our listeners by "banning" the Dixie
Chicks music because not everybody shares your view
point.
My reply:
whatever....
