I first have to say cops dont suck, but maybe a few particular ones have some bad habits..
If you passed the sobriety check first then he has to have probably cause to search your truck unless you gave him permission to do so..
If that didnt happen, then I would contact the internal affairs division of the police dept and make a complaint.
While I WANT and NEED the police to do the job they are supposed to do, I dont WANT or NEED them to overstep their bounds, especially on someone that doesnt have a prior history.

I don't think you were violated in as much as you were embarassed. They have to keep their lights on all the time, it's for their safety and yours. You were just embarassed that all your neighbors had to see you being pulled over and searched. Somehow I doubt it was as bad as you claim, you're just pissed off at the moment. He didn't just pick you out of random and think "I'm going to mess with someone tonight." He could've been watching you for awhile, maybe seeing you constantly change speed, or weave through your lane, before pulling you over. And seeing a teenager in a brand new Lightning is not an everyday occurance, so it probably rose a few flags that questioned how you came by the money to buy the vehicle.

Did you consent to the search? Did he tell you what he was searching for?

I live in a rural area where we just have state police patroling.
They are pretty decent. When you go a few miles down the road near Allentown you have the local police,Washington Township police and the state police all patrolling the same area.Pretty Scary. Justin you know what I am talking about.

I got stopped one night by 3 sherriffs in 2 different cars, one being the high sherriff in Callaway County. We went through the whole story of have you...have you...blah blah. Then he asks me to step out of the truck, so i shut it off and opened the door. he then demanded that i start my truck again. I got a little smart with him so i just reached in and cranked it. Well i step out of that truck 10 times a day but the time that i step out when a sherriff asks me, i tripped on my running board
he then proceeded to grab me and throw me over my hood (when you get thrown over your own hood you tend to get a little mad) He kept saying "Dont resist me Son!!"
Well i got the whole breathalizer test, line test, and finger test and then i had to sit in his car for 15 mins while he wrote me a warning for my tires hitting the white line on the shoulder of the road. I was pissed. Total--they made me keep my truck idling for 38 minutes and gave me a warning. But for every **** of a cop, there are plenty of nice ones and i respect them all!

i've only ever had one cop that was a complete jerk to me. i should have gotten his badge number, but next time something like that happends, i'll remember.
Even if he did complain, how far does a complaint from a 19 year old go? Does the cheif of police even look at it? I don't think so. It is one 19 year olds word against a police officer. Not just any oficer, but a corrupt, lying one.

sorry, i don't agree

And seeing a teenager in a brand new Lightning is not an everyday occurance, so it probably rose a few flags that questioned how you came by the money to buy the vehicle.

I can't believe this statement!!!!! Talk about corruption and stereotyping!!! How's this statement. Read this back to yourself ten times and think about it.

.....And seeing a ***{insert any type of race, cultural or ethnic backround here}*** in a brand new Lightning is not an everyday occurance, so it probably rose a few flags that questioned how you came by the money to buy the vehicle.

What's the difference. It's pure wrong. No excuse!!!!

With the finances availible to just about anyone today, more and more young people are driving nice vehicles. At least there is something being made easier to the younger folks. Try buying a house!!!!!!

If the cop had a reason to suspect something, it is his job to do what he did. If his excuse is there was a young kid driving a nice vehicle, he must sell drugs to have the money, that is pure B.S.!!!!

Unfortunately it will happen forever and there not much we can do about it. Complaining to the Police Chief / or Sheriff might be a start. Maybe they may have a problem with one particular officer. More and more complaints about this individual is the easiest way for them to take action.

If i were you i would maybe strike up general conversation with one of your neighbors and tell them what happened, guarenteed the rest of your neighborhood will know within the week.

And it happens a lot because there's a lot of truth to it. Anyhow, there's no way for us to know what's going on. We're only being told half the story, and are having to speculate at the other half (but it's so much easier to say that cops suck and not have to entertain the idea that they had a valid reason for doing their actions).

Still sounds good to me I used to live in a heavy drug area. When I first moved in, in my customized Mustang, I was pulled over quite a bit. It took awhile for the different shift officers to get to know me, and they left me alone. However, I continued to watch.. young white males driving Saleen Mustangs, Lexus's, Cadillacs, etc, all coming out of a very poor neighborhood, and they were pulled over one-by-one, 9 out of 10 were arrested on the spot. White males were profiled against in that area, it didn't bother me, because they were cleaning up the neighborhood. And to get a job done, sometimes you have to ruffle a few feathers.

that happened to me once right down the street from me, kept the lights on and woke my neighbors...boy was i embarassed. well long ago when i was younger, i got arrested once and they still hold that against me pshh, youd figure theyd let that go by now. but nooo, everytime i get pulled over its the same old thing, step out of the car, put your hands on the hood, where did you steal this truck, search search search, blah blah.

the cops get their power from 90% of intimidation. they dont have all the rights to do what they do, only you tend to not object because you think that it might **** them off. well dont be affraid to object to having your person searched (the have the right to search you for weapons THATS IT.) but if you dont object to being searched then it is assumed that you give them the right. if they find anything else like drugs it cant be held against you. you dont actually have to talk to a cop if you dont want to, unless hes going to charge you with something, legally hes bound to let you go if you say your in a hurry and that you need to be someplace. i love to study this stuff cause there are so many loop holes, i take it as my civil duty to know my rights

ruffling feathers???

Sounds more like harrassment to me.

I live right outside boston. Grew up in one of the tougher cities in the area untill i recently moved. So i'm no stranger to any thing when it comes to crime and drugs. The front bushes of my house ended up a drug dropoff/pickup till i put a stop to that. I understand the intentions of the police, and in fact we need them.

I know friends that parents bought or leased them vehicles when they got out of school for traveling back and forth to college, because they got really good schollarships and basically go to school for nothing. So now you have the police pulling over young folks that performed in school, were active in the community, great student athletes, could have even been helping their parents in an elderly home...........all for driving a nice car. Great reward huh??? Makes alot of sense doesn't it?

Bottom line is pulling over young people driving nice cars for suspician of drug activity is bull****. No different then being aprehended by customs on a trip to the carribean because they don't think you can afford to go on a trip of that stature. No different then having your appartment or house raided because you must be selling drugs to live there.

Anyone ever hear of hard work????? That's why I have a Lightning

Sorry to get off track people

Complaints DO work. A small farm town near here was having problems with a sheriff pulling EVERYONE over. People started to complain and the sheriffs department had no choice but to reassign the officer.

Say what you will, when I still had my 91 notch I would get pulled over a couple times a week for absolutly no reason. It had a big cowl hood with fuel pressure gauge outside, a Saleen wing and numerous other body mods. I would only get warnings, but for what? driving a cool car?!?!?! I was doing nothing wrong and all they accomplished by pulling me over was to make me look like a criminal in front of all my neighbors. In fact when I finally wrecked the thing (The throttle linkage stuck, you've heard the story) the officer doubted me and said I was showing off by hot rodding around. If I had been in a Diahatsu would he have made the same statement?? NO!! I had to take it in front of the city attorney to get the wreckless driving charge dropped.

In conclusion I would like to say, leave us young punks alone and start picking on the old farts like Gator who are a real threat. Maybe only a threat to our girlfriends and daughters, but still a threat

I pesonally think cops are worthless.

They only seem to make arrests when something falls into their laps, and the rest of the time they try to create busts that wouldn't otherwise exsist.

Case in point, a teenage girl lives in my Condo building.
She isinvolved with meth-amphetimine, has dealers and buyers coming over daily to do their business in her unit which means all the scum-bag traffic cruises by my door too.

Her other activities involve stealing cars.
She has a master key ring for several different makes of cars.

She steals 3 - 4 cars a week, and gets away with it.

Since they are not taken across state lines, it's not considered grand theft, only "joy riding".
So the cops do nothing except recover the cars in our parking lot and notify the owner to come get their stolen vehicle.

She is a known prostitute.

Her crew vandalizes our building constantly with cigarette burns on the indoor hall carpets, they vomit in the stairwells, spit on the walls, and get in gang fights in our parking lot.

Still the cops do nothing.

Their reason: unless there is a murder or a rape, we don't have the resorces to devote to these petty crimes.

Yeah, unless you happen to trip and fall right infront of a cop, and a kilo of coke comes flying out of your coat, they won't do a thing to protect someones community. They don't have the brains or ambition to bust someone like that.

I am with the crowd that thinks cops suck.

They are worthless excuses for waisting our tax dollars.

I dont think that cops are worthless at all i respect their positoin but some push their weight aroudn too much. I will never disrespect a cop but i will also not be intimidated by one. Im 19 and ive had my share of run ins with cops and i can tell you that acting humble and being honest will get you farther then being a little b*tch and whining about things

Hmmm, where should I start? Maybe let the sentence stand on it's own?

P.S. This site is being dominated by young punks who have too much free time on their hands. Obviously nothing else in their life but a "chip" (and I'm not talking a JL or JJSSVT chip) on their shoulder, overloaded credit cards, a bad attitude, and an expensive truck to show for themselves. And we wonder why our country is in such a sad state of affairs? This post should not be in a Lightning forum PERIOD!
