I *think* the only difference on the 7700 from the F-150 is 4:10 gears and heavier rear suspension. Not too sure though.

you would be right thats the only difference. mine is a 99 that looks like a f150. so its pretty much a 7700?

Differences from the F-150 included 7 lug semifloat sterling 10.25 rears, heavier springs, and a heavier frame.
Only thing I don't know for sure is the year it switched from F-250LD to F-150 7700.

No, that isn't right at all. The '97 F-250HD's were essentially '96 leftovers, and the F-250LD looked like the new body style F-150's.

i just bought a 97 f250 ld had no clue it was called a light duty truck. i just wanted that body type and found it so cheap, i could not walk away. i wanted one to plow with and tow with and such, but not so sure it will do the job now. but hey it can haul scrap, trash and band equipment and other uses i can find. i buy cars all the time and need it to pull my towdolly mostly, so this truck shoud work just fine. just how rare are they?? or are they.
