Not terribly rare. I thought they were F-250LD in '97 and '98 only, then '99s were rebadged as F-150 7700's when the superduties came out.

I think you're right. 97 and 98 F-250's were still the 92-96 F-150 body style. Then when the Super Duty came out in 99 they called them 7700's.

I *think* the only difference on the 7700 from the F-150 is 4:10 gears and heavier rear suspension. Not too sure though.

you would be right thats the only difference. mine is a 99 that looks like a f150. so its pretty much a 7700?

No, that isn't right at all. The '97 F-250HD's were essentially '96 leftovers, and the F-250LD looked like the new body style F-150's.

Differences from the F-150 included 7 lug semifloat sterling 10.25 rears, heavier springs, and a heavier frame.

Only thing I don't know for sure is the year it switched from F-250LD to F-150 7700.

Was my last ride w/4.6L till I upgraded. I maxed gvwr/gcwr & just not enuf power. No motor problems, but weak link was tranny. Yeah, looked like F150.

it turned to 7700 in 2000. There quite a few differences. 4r100 trans, 3.73 gears, 7 lug wheels, thicker frame, rear disc brakes, longer heavier torsion bars, 10.25 rear diff, add a leaf in the rear. I forget them all and don't care to look it all up.

'99+ F-150's got the 4R100 option as well, and all were rear disk.

i just bought a 97 f250 ld had no clue it was called a light duty truck. i just wanted that body type and found it so cheap, i could not walk away. i wanted one to plow with and tow with and such, but not so sure it will do the job now. but hey it can haul scrap, trash and band equipment and other uses i can find. i buy cars all the time and need it to pull my towdolly mostly, so this truck shoud work just fine. just how rare are they?? or are they.

None too rare our used car lot has had them before. Rust seems to be a major issue with all of them not sure why.

funny you say that i saw some rust under the front floorboard area today it must be a road spray area ? it was a little bit more to the center next to the trans tunnel, it was nice and crusty. i'm going to have to patch it or its a wet carpet for sure.
