2011 supercab should have outside handle

I have a 2011 "supercab". I recently seen an older Tundra ext cab that had the door handle on the outside. I also own a Chevy S10 ext cab and it has had problems both with the handle for the one second door, broke, and the driver door closing in general. I hope that my 2011 doesn't develop the same problems. I wish Ford would have just made an outside door handle. And, a help handle for rear passengers to get in. I plan on using the ext. cab for tool boxes more than people and prefer the look and less truck length of the ext cab vs crew cab( not to mention the $2545 adder.) Just my opinion. I'm sure there is a valid reason for this but, it seems obvious to me. I have to open two doors instead of one in order to get access. Other than that, I love the truck. So does everyone else, BTW.

I think to get into the tundra's back seat, you have to open the front door as well - like the Fords. But it looks cleaner with the handle on the door jamb.

I think it's federal law that suicide doors can't be opened by themselves.

Yeah, you still have to open the Tundra's front door to get to the back. The handle on the outside is just for a different look than the norm.

I went with a crew cab with this truck... the last two were extended cabs with the handle inside... I learned I did not want another extended cab after the second one.

It is cleaner with the handle on the inside, we only ever owned one supercab f150 and never had any issues with the doors.

However if anyone ever asked my opinion Ford should scrap the supercab just like dodge. You can either have a supercrew or a regular cab. When I bought my F150 back in 05 there was a 1k difference in price for a supercab and a supercrew.... Now that the 150's come with the beds that used to be only available on the supercab there really is no point. As for the 250's haven't the same beds been available for both super cabs and supercrews for the longest..?

Because an extended cab is just a pain in a full parking lot.

Bite your tongue!! SCAB/Short-bed = a very useful and manageable combination. I don't need the extra interior room, do need the bed space, and don't want a vehicle that's 2-3 feet longer.

Andy

P.S. - Handle on the outside or handle in the jamb, they're both the same type of mechanism, so I don't see how one could be "better" than the other. And since you have to open the front door first anyway, why muck up the lines of the truck with an extra, unnecessary protuberance?

If anything, Dodge's Quad Cab is their supercab now that they have a full fledged Crew Cab, not to mention the Mega Cab. It has about the same amount of room if you've ever sat in the back of one, it just has forward hinged doors. Same goes for the Tundra. I do like what Toyota did with theirs by putting the handles up in the pillar to make it look more like a regular supercab.

I like the two-door look and the extra room of the supercab. Being able to open the sc door 'suicide style' makes it real easy to get cargo in and out without having to walk around a door to do so. Also, it does not make any sense to have a handle on the outside of the sc doors. Nope - like it the way it is..

I don't like the scab doors either. They were a great idea when they came out in what? 99'? In most cases, they are a huge pain to deal with. I hate to say it, but I agree with the comment that Ford should follow what Dodge did. The Dodge quad cab still has a 6.4 ft bed AND it has normal operating doors. My bed is 6.5 ft. I'd gladly give the 0.1 to have real doors in my truck. There are many out there that don't need that huge crew cab, but I think most who have actually owned these scab doors would prefer normal opening doors. I know I would.

there's a reason Ford left the super cab door handles on the inside as mentioned above not only does it look cleaner but since you have to open the front doors anyway it's pointless to have the handles on the outside of the suicide doors...

So why do they have to be suicide? why can't they open normally. More cost? I anticipate someone will say - then get a Crew cab. I'm sure I will be fine with the truck as long as the meshing doors don't become a problem like the 98' s10. Opening two doors, 10-20 times a day, at times. Perhaps side tool boxes are the answer. Or, nomal opening doors.
