You guys would be surprises that the new powerstokes {99-up} will run in cold temps without plugging them in. Just turn the key, and wait for the light, then it starts right up.

BigRig,

Check out www.ford-diesel.com for info on your diesel. Very smart diesel folk over there.

fast46triton, I said that I wouldn't buy the diesel due to the temps here. Yes, I know about glow plugs, block heaters, winter fronts, grid heaters, etc, etc, etc. I also know about fuel gelling, fuel filters, waxing, additives such as diesel flow to prevent gelling, blended fuel, fuel tank heaters, fuel line heaters, etc, etc, etc. I've also seen diesels stopped here for these same reasons. As I said previously, if you can get a diesel to start here consistently without any external aid,ie block heater, case of ether, etc, I'd like to see it.
As I stated earlier, I prefer not to buy a diesel. These are some of the reasons. The people that buy diesels have their own reasons for buying them. I find absolutely no fault in their decision. We all buy what we want.
Just because someone decides not to buy a diesel, there is no reason for you to come on like you do. I realized a long time ago that experience is a good teacher. There is more to all of this than just talking about it.

Okay, sounds good, can always have someone do the windows later. I am still trying to figure out why the f-350 is 5-6k more than a F-250. Any ideas?

Talking

Part of the reason is the heavier suppension. the 350 have heavier springs and uses a Dana 70HD rearend. the 250 has a Dana 70. the 70HD and 3.5" axle tubes and bigger axles, whereas the standard 70 has 3'tubes. the front ends are both Dana 60. otherwise the trucks are the same. I didn't really look at 350s because i wanted the better ride of the 250 so i don't know the pricing difference. You are talking about SRW trucks not DRW right?

Cool

Oh Definantly! I like duallys but don't need/want them. I see, I really didn't know what the difference was. I figured that there probably was just more leaves and a heavier axle, but couldnt figure where 5000 dollars came into the picture. Especially having to pay $4600 for the engine. I went through their site(www.fordvehicles.com) and priced out both trucks, and went to option list and you have to buy the second alternator? Plus they raised the price of almost everything. Oh well!

Fast: I have grown up (sort of) around diesels and sort of have an idea on how they operate. I really like the smell. I wouldn't inhale it though! (LOL!)

Question

SDf250_mn,

Do you have one of those "special" ford trucks or who told you what axles are on super duties? F-250 and F-350 srw's have Dana 50 fronts and sterling 10.5" rears. If you get drw you get a dana 60 front and dana 80 rear. I don't think Ford has ever used Dana 70's. Even on the old body styles F250HD had a Dana 50 IFS front and a sterling 10.25 rear and the F-350 had a Dana 60 front with sterling 10.25 rear. I think I remember reading somewhere that some of the dodge rams have Dana 70's though
