If you've already had problems shifting into 2nd and have now lost reverse your trans is already dead. Expect a $4000+ bill for a rebuilt trans or an upgraded unit. Thats what happens if you chip a truck, pull heavy loads, and don't take maticulous care of the trans. You had best get the trans done now before any more extensive damage is done. There are still some very expensive parts that can get wiped out if you keep driving it.

Don't be like me, and just wait for the truck to not work no more before fixing it.

Don't go with an "OE spec" rebuild either. Best to spend the extra grand or so and get a BTS or equivalent. The 4R100 is junk unless built up. My truck went through 2 of them in 9k miles and was starting to slip on the most recent rebuild at less than 1k.
