What do you think of this F250?

Looking to replace my Expedition with an F250 diesel.
I'd like to stick with Ford, so I'm looking for a 7.3 that's a few years old.
What do you guys think of this truck?
The price is a bit high, but what do you think it's worth with so few miles?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ax_price=30000

I'll be pulling a toy hauler (about 8,000 lbs, plus some motorcycles in the bed) as well as a boat (about 7,000 lbs., but may upgrade to a bigger one soon).
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!

My first thought would be that price is always negotiable.

My second thought would be why are they looking to sell it, and why so much money?

Also, did you notice the seller is in California? I thought non-industrial diesels were illegal to sell new in Cali... If that is the case, where did the truck come from originally? What is the title history...

I think I might run the VIN just to make sure everything is on the up and up.

Diesel trucks are legal here, always have been.
Smog regs are different for high-GVWR vehicles.

I'm going to take a look at it thisw weekend. He lives a few miles away from me.

I'm gonna get the VIN and get an OASIS report run on it.

I'd want to find out if its been regeared, because the 4R100 in stock form doesn't like big tires and stock gears. Also check and see if it is, or has been chipped. Being an 02 its got PMRs and they are more suceptable to failure with bad chip programming than the older forged rods. If it has or has EVER had Nitrous, Propane, or Water/meth injection then avoid it like the plauge. Any of those 3 can, and usually do sent a PMR rod through the block. You really gotta know what you're doing when playing with drugs like that. Check the air filter and make sure its not a K&N as they have a bad reputation for letting dirt through on turbo applications. You're pulling a pretty good vacuum and air velocities at the filter.

As to the price its a dream to get $30k for that truck no matter what the miles or mods done to it. Its still a 2002, which is now a 5 yr old truck. You're looking at more the $25k range. If it was maybe an 04 or 05 I could maybe see it, but not for an 02.

UPDATE:
Truck sold to someone else.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions.
He says it has "Banks Power" so I need to find out exactly that is...just an exhaust, or a chip as well. I'm hoping it's re-geared as well.

Question: Is the Banks chip/full setup OK for these 7.3s?

I will offer no more than $24K if it's in good shape.
Miles are one thing, but you are right, it's a 2002 truck.

I wonder what it went for...I am guessing no more than $25,000.

The Banks Power sticker could be anything from just an exhaust, to a full power pack with intercooler, chip, trans controller, etc.

The Banks stuff is safe for a 7.3L, especially since it makes zilch for power. Banks has a reputation for making very low power for the amount of money the stuff sells for. Plus alot of complaints about customer service. Honestly you can make a 7.3L run just as hard as a full Banks power pack, and be just as reliable, for literally less than 1/3 the cost.
