Anyone reach the 600hp mark?

im getting ready to do a serious tear down and rebuild of my 7.3....i have been playing around with the idea of twins to get me to the 600hp mark and talking with people at the local diesel performance shop about all the internals (billet rods, studded heads, low compression pistons, etc)....i would rather stay far away from water/meth and all that other stuff because of the damaging effects that are eventually done to the motor so this is a all motor build...well except for the minor details of twin turbos boosting around 70ish psi

Anyhow.... anyone have any thoughts about this kind of engine build or performance mods to the motor?...im wanting to build this so i have something to play around with the 750hp Cummins that are roaming around here

Yeah its been done. 700rwhp has also been beat, but no 7.3L has cracked 800hp and been able to back up the claim. Also it can't get there without drugs.

I assume that since you've been talking to a local shop and are talking about rods, heads, and studs that you know how expensive this is going to be. To get to where you're talking is going to be the $30k+ range. I also wouldn't plan on it being reliable at that hp, as most 7.3L trucks pushing that power have not stayed together for very long. Most have lasted only about a year or maybe two at that level before they send a rod through the side of the block, or the bottom end just gives out.

You're going to need the above mentioned, plus the following. Dual hpop, low end girdle, high rev kit, fire ring the block, maybe do some porting work on the heads, and so on.

Hate to tell you this, but that 750hp Cummins is still going to walk all over you and he'll still be able to daily drive his truck. The 7.3L at those power levels isn't very streetable anymore. I'm all for the PSD performance but theres a reason I'm not staying with it anymore.

its really rare to see high hp PSD's anywhere.....every magazine you read it says 1000hp ford...with a cummins in it...so its really not a ford...its just fun to have the highest hp ford in the area even though there are cummins with way more hp...damn common rails. But still i have the quote on the build and its around $24,000 for evverything i want

Then again a 750 hp dodge could be beat with a 500hp ford...its all about getting the power to the ground and not spinning the tires

even if i only hit 450hp and 900ft lbs thats still an impressive number and more than enough power than i will ever need
