Thumbs up 348,000 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I thought this might be of interest to you Super Duty fans with the Power Stroke. As some of you may know I work at a Ford Dealership in Nampa, Idaho......................anyway last week one of our customers came in to vist one of the managers. I could not belive my ears and eyes!!! This guy has 99 Crew Cab that he uses in his business. He has an UNBELIVEABLE 348,000 MILES ON HIS TRUCK!!!!
I kid you not this is a fact! The truck is driven almost 800 to 1,000 miles a day 6 days a week! I had to look at the odometer 3 times to beleive it. It was one of the first 99's to be sold in this area.

I know Ford loved that!
The guy was under warranty for five weeks!

I wonder if he changed the oil every three days?

The driver's seat is in real bad shape (hemorhoids).

The upholstery is holding up fine though!

Exclamation

Just to strive for more accuracy, if he bought one of the first, it was purchased 12/97 or 1/98 when they first came out. That would give up to 21 months to accumulate the miles. 21 mos x 30 days =630 days. If driven 6 days a week: 630/7=90 x 6= 540 days. 348,000/540=644 mi. per day. Still an incredible amount. My advice is to never pi$$ this guy off. He seems very adept at sitting on things.

HOLY @#%&!!!

geez, I'd be amazed to see the maintenance schedule that truck goes thru! Like Raoul said, oil change every 3 days..or what, maybe every 5 days?? OUCH! Did he rotate his tires every 5 days? How is the driver seat holding up?

things that make you go HOLY @#%&!!!

Something is fishy in the math here. If it was purchased 12/98, that was only 10 months ago, not 21. That would require over 1000 miles per day.

WOW!!! Do you think my truck will last that long? Whats his secret? I guess I need to connect my cable so that I can see how many miles I'm putting on mine.

MLaugh, I work for the company that makes the 6speed for the diesel truck. Did this guy have one and if so, could I get in touch with him? Curious what maintenance he had to do so far.

To all: I am not sure when this guy bought the truck....some where around 4/98 and yes he does maintain the truck well. The most worn part of the vehicle was the bed. I talked to the salesperson who sold it and he said in three months it had 90,000 miles on it. Sounds almost crazy doesn't it.

The truck: 1999 Ford Crew Cab Long bed 4x4 Power Stroke Diesel
XLT
6 speed manual
The guy told us it just ran fine and the only major repair was the turbo just went out. Not to bad since all of these miles were put on while towing!!! He is shooting for 500,000 miles or maybe a million on the engine. Geez I only drive about 12,000 a year.

Mlaugh,
Get the VIN so someone can run it through the Ford Service computer to see the maintenance and mileage records.

To my knowledge, Ford's SBTS system tracks only the past 12 months warranty history; non warranty repairs are not listed. Larger Ford dealers utilize a more advanced SBDS system; I do not know what repair history the SBDS system tracks.
