Whats the difference between the 5 spd on the 150 and the 250?? Is there a major increase in towing capacity?

If your talking the difference between the manuals in the 150 vs. 250HD then the amount is anywhere from around 5,000# to around 12,000# depending on which engine you get in the heavy duty 250. If I remember correctly the 150 manual is less than 4,000# towing capacity and the 250 Super Duty manual is rated to just over 14,000# w/the V10 or PSD and 5th wheel configuration.

Hutch: There is also a difference in engines. The F150 manual is either a 4.2 V6 or a 4.6 V8. The F250 manual is either a 5.4 V8, 6.8 V10 or the 7.3 Diesel 6speed!! Take your pick for the type of jobs you normally encounter

How does the 7.3 diesel compare in torque to the 5.4 v-8?

Bob1....Don't know about the torque. But I do know that the 5.4 V8 has some get up-and-go. Because I drive both. I have the 5.4 V8 on order.

Bob: the 6.8 V10 has 310hp and 425 lbs-ft of torque The 7.3psd has 235hp and 500 lbs-ft of torque. (These are 2000 numbers) Nothing beats the diesel for pulling

Bob: I see I forgot the numbers for the 5.4 V8. They are 260HP and 350lbs-ft torque

2Hi4u: I'm very seriously looking at a CrewCab too, only in a diesel 6speed. I'm curious about what you're paying for your new one, although I'm not interrested in a 4x4 this time or leather. Have you seen the overhead console in the Larait?? That thing is cool It's not even offered as an option on the XLT Dealership said they might could install one for me (they say anything to get you to order)

Cool

Hi there Tina
I like the diesel 2. but they want to much money. The truck I ordered is just for everday use and show. No heavy pulling or muddin. I'm paying $29,500. Yes I like the overhead console. You can order it in the XLT when you order your truck. I compare the xlt and the Larait for about 2 months before I ordered mine.
I have a 4" lift on order from Jack-it ***. (http://www.jackit.com/) Best price around

2Hi4u: I'm dealing with autobytel and also my local dealer, both said NO on the overhead console for the XLT!! Does your $29500 include tax and tags? Or is that the truck, dealer prep and destination cost?? Also, are you trading in another F150 for this or outright buying it? On that ?? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to try and sell my truck or just drive it until new one comes in and use it for a trade. What kind of time did the dealer give you for waiting on the new truck to come in?? Sorry for all the ??? but the more info a person has when they talk with a dealer, the better the deal will be. Thanks

Tina, To answer you on the price...No, ttl is added.....I'm trading in a '99 f-150 x-cab for it.....It's worth it to me...Takes to long to sale it out right. When I ordered my F-250, I got the trade in value of my truck. They are giving more then the trade and I get to use it till the F-250 comes in. I ordered it on Octcber 13th. Two weeks later the salesperson (Troy a good friend) told me it will be in the first week of December.
I did the same thing, I must have figured and looked at the deal about 50 times before I ordered the truck. So it's not a problem. Just go in with your guns loader. All the info you can put your hands on before to talk to them. I was luck, because I know the salesperon (Troy) a my local dealer. Hope this helps you.

2Hi4u: This is the price I'm looking at and what's on the truck, tell me what you think:
F250 Crew Cab SuperDuty, 4x2, short bed, Diesel 6speed, XLT, duel power mirrors, 3.73 limited slip, roof clearance lights, 40/20/40 seats, cab steps, rear privacy glass, AM/FM/CD/cassette, AS OWL 265/75/16 tires, sliding rear window. It also has 2-78amp batteries, 110amp alternator and an engine block heater. For $28832 plus tax and tags. I'm going to try to see if I can get captains chairs throwed in for free, we'll see. Though I must say, I've already beat the salesman up pretty good as it is (I think) to get this price.

Tina, sounds good to me..Good luck on the captian chairs. I hope your not buy a short bed to pull a fifth wheel. If so you better go with a long bed. And also if your not going to pull something go with the 4:10 rear end. Tell the salesperson to give you a bugsheild and privatice windows also, I did.
