Update on my 02 f150 5.4 dohc swap.

Hey guys little update on my truck. Got it running now. Just waiting to get it tuned and it’ll be ready for the street. So here’s the run down on my truck.

•Factory 5.4 sohc Windsor block

•2001 cobra heads ported polished

•Boss 302 intake manifold with MMR spacer plates

•MMR 5.0 to mechanical throttle body adapter

•MMR rear crossover coolant kit this helps keep the rear cylinder heads a lot cooler. I think cylinder 7 and 8 tend to get a lot hotter cause there’s not as much coolant flow in the back so MMR come out with this kit to help with that.

•On 3 performance crossover coolant delete kit. This also relocated the thermostat to the top of the radiator by the way.

•Flexlite drop in electric fans

•Made my own custom headers

•Made my own custom intake tube

•BBK 80mm throttle body for a 86-93 mustang. I also had to rewire the TPS sensor for this to work. You’ll need a 3 way male and female plugs to do this. You can get these on eBay or parts store as well.

•Borla XR1 mufflers with X-pipe

•AN EFI spring lock adaptors 3/8 and 1/2. You’ll need these for your fuel system if you use the boss intake or any 5.0 intake so you can keep your fuel system return style and you’ll need a fuel regulator as well.

•Holley performance fuel regulator

•5.4 Dohc timing cover

•Made my own custom power steering canister bracket

•Mr.Gasket 36inch throttle cable

•BPS fuel rails I was able to use the factory fuel injectors as well.

•I think that’s all

But if y’all have any question I’ll be more than happy to help. This has been a long build for me lol. 2 years and it’s finally done. I have roughly $6,000 in this hole build but I did a lot of this myself. Thanks for y’all info on this stuff helps a lot and hope this helps anyone else doing this style build.

If you are using the factory fuel lines you’ll need there spring lock adapters. They adapt your fuel lines to AN fittings.

This my TPS sensor. Have to rewire it with a 1 x Set Female and Male Connector Plug 3-way 3 pin WeatherPack Electrical Wire. Cause the throttle body I have you can’t find a pig tail that’s a male connecter. As you can see in my other photo below.

These are a set of DNA f150 2 valve headers that I cut off the original 2 valve flange and here I’m re welding the 4 valve flanges on.

This is the throttle body I ordered

As you can tell I had to make my custom intake tube like that cause I barley even had enough room to put the throttle body on the intake and run the intake tube off it. So this is what I decide to do and it works great. You can go throttle by wire a guy with this setup did in a lightning and was running a 88 mm turbo. I wish I could’ve talk to him more about it but I dont know how he did it but he did. And he’s running 10.3 in the 1/4. I met him in bowling green Kentucky at the NMRA.

Here you can see how On 3 performance coolant delete kit relocates the thermostat up top in the metal casing.

My custom power steering reservoir bracket made it out of 3/16 stainless. I work at a stainless fab shop. So this custom add on help lol.

I used silicone bronze rod on the inside and 304 stainless 1/16 rod on the back side.

Question tps sensor question

did you use the 2v tps sensor and just rewire it or did you use a fox tps sensor?

I figured out what the pin was on the harnesses and re wired it to the factory harness into a pigtail so you could plug it in and unplug it.

I have a question about how you routed your heater lines

Heater hose route

go back to the photos I posted and zoom in and you’ll be able to see how I routed them under the intake tube to the radiator. I purchased the on 2 performance thermostat relocation kit. And on the back of the heads I bought MMR coolant crossovers to cool both heads evenly. And the heater hoses that got to the firewall are still factory location on the firewall they also connect the the MMR crossover kit. and the heater line under the intake I tired it into the MMR crossover lines. That part was tricky at first. I believe you are referring to the heater line under the intake correct.
