aFe Twisted Steel Header for 2011-2014 Ford F-150 with 5.0L V8 Engine

Add more power to you 2011-2014 F150 “Coyote” with V8-5.0L engine by installing our new “Race Only” Twisted Steel headers. These headers feature a 1-5/8” mandrel-bent tuned length primary tubes that will out-flow the stock cast manifolds by 46%. These headers are built using 409 stainless and thick 3/8 flanges for a leak-free seal. We designed the headers to incorporate a merge collector (header collector). A merge collector combines high flow and velocity to increase and broaden the engines torque curve, while reducing turbulence that is found in traditional form collectors.

Priced @ $749.00 delivered. (excludes tax for PA & NV residents)

Well that's a new company entering the game. Pretty weird to be made of only 409 SS though.

Nope, (low quality) 304 SS. My headers are very carmel-colored (which I think looks cool and I don't mind), whereas by catback is still all shiny. Both are classified as 304

I always figured there was just one grade of 304ss, if it was lower quality it was considered 409ss..
My OBX were black after about a few months.

That's my understanding too, that it has to meet certain qualifications/standards, but my Roush catback is a high quality kit and looks just like it did brand new, but dirty. Whereas the cheaper OBX long tubes are all discolored. Chinese steel ain't as good as good American steel in general, so I figure not all 304 SS is created equal.

304 has 20x the chromium and 5 or 10x more nickel composition than 409, if memory serves even somewhat accurately. The difference is much more substantial than you'd think, which I guess is why one costs twice as much as the other.

As long as it doesn't rust thru i don't care haha. My exhaust will be almost all 409 minus the tips and Borla muffler.. Thread derailed/

Exactly. 409 is 10 times better than regular carbon steel.

But to get it back on track, the 1 5/8" primaries on those headers is supposed to be the best diameter for non-boosted applications (which is most of us), IIRC. And it's hard to find them with that size. This thread is much more likely to get looked at with me and you commenting on it too.

Shorties do their job, making stuff a lot louder

With a price modification of maybe $400 less, they'll sell. Otherwise, $100 more will get you Dynatech long tubes, the full OBX long tube resonated kit, or the Pacesetter Armour treated long tubes with plenty of cash left over for grade 8 hardware and hi-flow cats.

No disrespect but they won't sell at that price being a shorty header.

I was trying not to call out a paying vendor . . . but I agree.

If something is more expensive than Kooks, it's too much lol. Plus aFe is an intake company. You can't start making a header and think they're so good that they demand top dollar without establishing a name for themselves.

By no means was I trying to insult a vendor, I didn't mean to come out that way, but its real obvious that the folks on here aren't going to pay that price unless they haven't done their homework and have deep pockets. Just feel their price should be at least below the JBA shorty header price for a new product without a history.

Much respect for them expanding business as that always costs some money to do, but for that price, I feel it should have the tubes go down below the engine and combined in a collector with a 2.5" flange . How about it AFE?
