Stock tb size??

Would it be worth the effort to goto a bigger tb??

Also what about the spacers out there???

Better to go with new bigger tb no spacer/ with spacer?? 75 mm tb

Just stick with stock tb with a spacer/without spacer???

Then i guess if i do that the exhaust has to be improved over stock??? The manifold.

If you're running a N/A engine then stick with stock throttle body and no spacer.
The spacers are an oversized paper weight.

Naturally aspirated, not forced induction, basically meaning no supercharger or turbocharger on it.

ok the spacers are paper weights. They must do something for the engine,,, I know they have them for carbed engines but that's based on performance parameters.

ok now what is the size of the t/b that is on the truck???

They do help carbed engines but not injected. All they do is whistle. I seem to recall the TB is a 65. Regardless, it delivers all your engine can handle.

so going bigger t/b doesn't help any???? Ill buy the t/b spacer being a paper weight.

I would guess the t/b spacer that whistles didn't get the gaskets that come with them installed. From what ive seen they come with them. If you don't have them then don't install it or buy it or get some for it.

thanks for the info!!!! Bluejay

It whistles because of the design and how the air flows through it along the grooves, not because it wasn't installed properly or faulty. I've even heard they've designed some that are made not to whistle.

And like Bluejay said, while they give gains to carbed motors, you'll see nothing on a n/a motor except the sound.

Throttle body spacers were designed to help improve the fuel air mixture in Carbed and TBI motors. The companies figured that they could keep selling them after EFI engines were produced if they never mentioned that they don't do anything for them. They don't work on EFI motors because the fuel is injected at the cylinder not at the throttle.

if you went with a bigger TB you'd have to port/carve the intake hole bigger....

88, wouldn't you have to port to plenum too, or does the stock on work? I have been thinking about going up to a 75mm on my 4.6L.

you'd use a Cai and a silicon reducer to make up the difference between the differences in sizes...

Talking

Not to argue but isnt a bigger t/b just a bigger butterfly valve compared to the stock one. Just fits on the stock intake.

My guess a bigger t/b is another oversized paper weight again. Because of all the other things you "have" to do to get any real # out of it.

Come to the conclusion that the idea of "no replacement for displacement" is very alive. If you want power go get a bigger engine, like the V10 swap idea!!!!!!!

On that note K.R., I have been thinking about snagging a 6.2L setup from a wrecked F-250. Trying to cram that thing in my 150 just might be more work than it's worth.
