Exhaust opinions

Hey guys as the summer approaches and I am finally about to get my lift and tires paid off, I want to get some exhaust work done.

I currently have just the factory muffler cut and pipe welded in place. Sounds pretty good, but I'm just tired of that dinky factory pipe hanging out the back and want a nice dual setup.

I was originally thinking of leaving all 4 cats and keeping with the no muffler and leaving the 4 cats, but I kind of want to change it up some since I'm so used to that sound. So I'm thinking 2 options.

1. Get a Dynomax Bullet and cut the rear 2 cats and do the Gotts O2 mod.

2. Get a 14 inch body Magnapack with the rear 2 cats cut with the Gotts O2 mod.

I don't mind a little popping but don't want too much so I don't have that redneck sound going on, but I also want it loud with a good tone. Due to cost, Hi-flows are out of the question. So which of those two options would you guys recommend?

Also as far as how I am going to run the exhaust I am strongly leaning towards the "hidden exhaust" look like KR-Texas did on his Raptor with these SLP tips:

3. Remove rear cats and install Borla Stinger or XR-1.

I had the Borla Stinger cat-back on my old GT. Loved the sound but they are just so pricey. Even just for a muffler...

My opinion it's worth it. But go custom not cat back kit.

However, it's your truck and pocket book. Magnaflow would be my second choice.

Yeah I'm definitely going custom since not only is it cheaper but I'm also going with an unconventional exhaust exit.

The Pro-XS is in my price range. How would it compare to the others? More tame I'm sure. But might be good since I am deleting rear cats.

A buddy of mine has true dual Pro-XS mufflers with high flow cats and it's really nice on his 5.4. Not as raw but still a nice, smooth consistent tone.

^ this. I've got them on my truck. No popping at all. Nice low deep tone. It sounds nice. Only a little done but then again i have no cats plus LTs.

I considered the XR-1's but I think those plus no rear cats would be too loud and aggressive for a daily driven vehicle.

Made that mistake on my GT with Stingers and a o/r x-pipe. Loud as hell and sounded good but way too loud for a DD.

Looks like I will be going with the Pro-XS

I wish they made 3" Stingers or I would have gone with that lol they are sick! The XR-1 is pretty nasty too I love hearing it every start up and every acceleration it just puts the biggest smile on my face. It sounds like a Cobra at certain times, which is awesome. But you can't go wrong with any Borla product really.

Magnapack > Bullet. I won't ever run a Dynomax Bullet again. Too cheaply made and not as well toned as the Magnapack.

I could definitely see that as being an issue.

I like the Magnapack a lot, but I'm thinking of spending the extra $$ and going with Borla. Is that a good decision, or is the Borla really not worth the extra dough?

If I do go Borla, would I be better going with the XR-1 oval 2.5 inch in/out with a Maggy y-pipe, Pro XS SI/SO 2.5 inch in/out with a Maggy y-pipe, or the Pro XS SI/DO 2.5 inch in/out?

Is there any sound difference going SI/DO vs. SI/SO with y-pipe?

Borla is VERY much worth the $$$ just do it. No matter what Borla product you go with, it'll have a unique and consistent tone unlike anything else.

I have the 3" SISO XR-1 that splits into a Y pipe and 2.5" tails into my 4" tips.

Not sure about any sound difference between the two, probably very minimal. I have a custom system fabricated from the high flow cats to the rear and it sounds damn good I enjoy driving it every day.
