full new exhaust plan coming together

Ok since i just got my new lkq short block put in I added a set of BBk ceramic shorties to the mix( before you beat me up over the shorties it was only for looks not going crazy hp gains no need for L/T's) So i have a si/do magnaflow 10"body/4" tips cut off at rear axel blah..blah ..blah bored of the sound to weake and not crisp enough for my liking...So with some help from darrenws6 here is my new plan!

2 Maggy 91436 high flows (chosen due to my 02 set up with deleting the pre's)

2 maggy 10778 y pipes

1 borla XR1 (shortest lenght body i can find)

2 RBP 45122 5" tips 12" long

all 3" satinless tubing mandrel bent and tig welded exititing lightning style.

and to finish it all off have the complete system ceramic coated (minus the shiney RBP tips.

Thinking it will hopefully sound nasty but look nice and custom and clean like the rest of my rig!

Thanks to DarrenWS6 for pointing me in the right direction!

so you are going to spend as much on shorties that are worthless, as you could on long tubes????

yes actually ialready did and they look great on the truck. fit perfect and replaced my rotted stock manifolds with a perfect fit. they are manufactured extremly well and since i was looking for an alternative to just replace the stock manifolds and not being intrested in hp gains they were perfect for my application. plus they do sound a little better. i like them because there plug and play so maybe worthless to you but suited my needs perfectly.

Unless it is for racing purposes, in all reality, there are little differences in overall performance between shorties (Tri-Y), mid-length & long tube headers.....shorties actually perform excellent up to about 5500 rpm and then will have a slight drop until 6k rpm when it begins to really decline.....more than enough for street use and much better than oem manifolds.....it was/has been an issue of contention for decades, but about 10 years ago a dyno test was run with both a street & race version of the same engine.....

^^ BS.

Got a link to that dyno test? Here's a much more recent dyno sheet that tells quite a different story than the one you spun.

2011 F150 5.0.

As you can see, the only difference in the two runs is ARH long tube headers versus stock manifold. Additionally, I've yet to see a dyno sheet where the gains after switching from the OEM manifolds to shorties is anywhere near the 30 hp/tq range.

Blue, get what suites your needs. If you're good with shorties (which will help more with sound than seat-of-your-britches performance), go fer it!

Thanks dewser & beechkid! HAHA! All i want my truck is to look pretty and sound good! It's a 10 yr old 2wd lifted street queen and by no means do i want to make her into a race car! HAHA the shorties loom amazing and sound even better! But one day i will own a lightning and that will get a set of long tubes!

The planned exhaust sounds good to me man. Just make sure you order the #94136 cats and not to typo it.

Going with the #40085 XR-1 like me?

Exactly! Either way, it'll look slick. After you pulled off that chrome gas door when we were all telling you no, I trust your judgement.
