2011 3.7L Exhaust
2011 3.7L Exhaust
Has anyone done an exhaust on the 3.7l yet? I see that Magnaflow has a kit already; but I would like to hear it before I order. Please post up if you have custom exhaust as well, as I have a buddy with an exhaust shop and am not opposed to going custom. I just want to hear some different systems to get a feel for what is the least 'ricey' of the bunch. I know that it will never sound like a V8; but it is a little too quiet for my tastes.
I recommend installing a 2.5", SI/SO - 14" Magnaflow (oval) muffler or a SI/DO (2.5"/2.25") - 14" Magnaflow (oval) muffler and custom bent tailpipes with SS rolled tips. It will be cheaper to purchase the muffler and tips and then have the exhaust shop install it.

I, actually, don't really want to go Flowmaster. I just don't like the sound of chambered exhaust on a six cylinder. Was figuring on either SISO with a split tip, or SIDO with same side exit on pass side, ahead of the tire. Sort of like the Lightnings. I love the look of this exhaust. I just need to find a good muffler to get it to sound decent.
Straight through muffler on a V6 will make your truck sound like an Acura Integra. If your into that, do it. Flowmaster 44 will make your truck sound the best. Put it out the side lightning style and it will sound pretty decent. I would NOT recommend putting a magnaflow on there.

You can always go with a Dynomax Super Turbo. I had one on my '93 GMC 1500 short bed with the 4.3L. It was a SI/DO and it sounded like a small block V8 at start-up and didn't have a typical V6 note when driving in town or on the highway.
I was thinking about the Dynomax. I used to have a Bronco II with a super turbo on it, and it didn't sound half bad. I may talk to my friend about relocating the stock muffler and getting the exhaust to exit where I want it to. After all, it doesn't sound terrible from the factory. I just want something to set mine apart from the rest.
Not sure if it’s going to be of any help but I had a magnaflow 14” on a dodge stratus v6 in the past. As much as I love Magnaflow (Have a catback on my 4.6L now) I would have to agree with the others. My car just droned. It did not sound good at all. Not like my V8. Take it for what you paid for it. Either way, post up when you’re done.
Just realize this and make your decision dude. Straight through mufflers (magnaflow, borla, etc) DO NOT sound good on a V6. Chambered mufflers are the ONLY way to go. I would either go super 44 or cherry bomb extreme.
This is why I want to hear them first. I have had Dynomax on a 6 before, and it wasn't bad; but that was a 2.9 in a BroncoII. Not much of a comparison. Hell, I may just have a shop modify the stock bits to look how I want it to.
