quick yes or no

ok so I am heading to the shop in a few hours and yesterday I told the guy I wanted to straight pipe my truck because it has 4 cats, so it sounds good. Well, he said I'll need a resonator on each pipe to re-gain the backpressure I lost when I cut the muffler off and to re-gain the mpg's I lost. I'm kinda lost when It comes to the concept of backpressure, so do I need a $75 resonator on each side if I want to run straight true duals? Any help with this will be appreciated since Im not very knowledgeable about backpressure,
Thanks

Nope exhaust gas velocity is what you need back pressure isnt that great at all. matter of fact its a myth you want Scavenging and velocity.

these trucks sound awesome with the factory 4 cats BTW.

Makes me sick that the people who do exhaust work have no clue what the hell they are doing.

Well I talked to the owner of the shop before they started on my truck and told him I wanted true duals, both exiting before the rear tire with 3.5 x18in tips turned sideways. he quoted me for $195 with tax included. so no resonators for me. turns out the owner knows about the backpressure myth, its just one of his employees didn't. so I should have pics up by tomorrow or thursday. thanks for the help guys

At least the owner was able to get to you. I would fire an employee if he was trying to sell someone on that myth.

Yes you will need 2 resonators to hold enough backpressure to keep your power strong. You should consider running a pair of Flowmasters for more backpressure.

^ Make sure you grease your muffler bearings too. Those Flowmaster mufflers are notorious for there bearings rusting and sticking. When they stick you loose back pressure, and we all know what that leads to... Loss of power!!!
