Is it just me or.......
.....has the 3" pipes changed my backpressure negatively.
Here's the scenario:
2007 5.4L Crew
K&N Intake
Flowmaster Catback 3" pipes
Wanted to get exhaust to combo my intake, and feel that the 3" pipes have actually made my truck less powerful when I "get on it." My question is, if this is true would I even notice a change in power? And it's not dual exhaust, so hopefully you guys will say "Split, it's just you. Your truck is actually faster, its the sound making you think it's slower."
Thanks guys again for the support

Firstly, back-pressure is a myth.
Secondly, if you feel a performance hit, it's not from the 3" intermediate pipe. The Slowmaster might be. Unless you cut the OEM Y-pipe out and installed one that exits in 3", you wouldn't have had any noticeable performance gains.

And while yer at it, either remove that POS K&N, which is not doing much of anything useful, and is very likely not safe until you get a proper tune for it.
3V's and WAI's do not mix with the stock calibrattion or canned tunes with no MAF TF support. This has been reitirateed countless times on here - and very recently.

Exhaust gasses will die with a three inch pipe. Good for mid to top end but bottom end not so much. You dont lose anything it just moves your power band up i.e. peak torque goes from maybe 3600rpm to 4000+. All depends on how much pipe you have @ 3" though...

I was reading on another forum for a certain Bowtie manufacturer where a guy did a baseline dyno tune, did one after an aftermarket CAI, then another with a Borla system. He lost 50 ft.lbs of torque in midrange with the Borla exhaust and -7 ft lbs at max torque! Holy crap!

because there's a lot more this story than what just been posted, exhaust size, muffler, timing, etc
without the dyno sheets and the datalogs I'm calling BS

YES, you cost yourself a bunch of torque which in turn makes teh truck slower, this is yet another reason people need to RESEARCH the mods before they make or purchase them
