late update here, but i fixed the noise that the pipe was making every time i hit the gas or brake. compressed the billows like you recommended, then put foam around the hole in the sidewall. i get a bunch of them every time i do an ipod integration kit on a customer's car and it worked beautifully. no noise!

not to repeat but like he said, JLT tells you as you order the part it needs a custon tune to make it work right. i think i would follow their advise than an independent tuner. even though i like bill's past/reputation, better safe than sorry.
