more noise and not so much on the MPG and might give more throttle response.

I did NOT notice any increase in "noise". But I did not cut off the resonators either.

More performance? Maybe - but I'm certain it improved my fuel economy by 0.5 mpg. Why? possibly better efficiency in the high RPM range, like when accelerating from a stop.

on my old 2001, I went to a junk yard and got one of those cone filter covers that are stock, and cut all that off and just kept the area that clamped the filter on to the inlet tube. this gave me an open filter for more air.
I programmed it and it still sucked. I decided that the 4.6 was way to small for this size truck and got rid of it, and was glad.
