Is your truck a 5.4 or 4.6? My 08 is a 4.6 and I'm yet to find ANY LT's for the 2wd model. Anyway...my 99 5.4 Expedition can use same parts as 97-04H 150 4.6 and 5.4...Get your longtubes put on with them high flows. DO AN H-PIPE OR X-PIPE. I ran a glasspack on the Expedition for a long time and LOVED it. it's on youtube I'll post a link here in a minute. It's obvioiusly straight through but but the stock manifolds, etc make it quiet. You could do this. Now..on my 08 4.6 I had it done at 2.75" ID and 2.25" OD which I can say this...the smaller pipe out helped the BP alot..and throttle response..no myth..it's a fact. plus it gave a loud deeper sound. TRUST ME. Tips do wonders for sound too. I'd run a long tip around 16"-18" long and maybe 3"or 3.5"....maybe 4" your choice...

Here's my 5.4 with a glasspack.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fayp36COv50

let me know what you think. Maybe need something diff seeing as how you're running LT's

Here's some that are stainless, but a bit on the expensive side.

X for sure. Way too much pop and crackle with an H, especially with a glasspack or bullet muffler.

Got the passenger header on last night. I ended up taking the starter off so I could get at two of the manifold bolts easier. It's really tight in there with the headers.

Sensors, sensor extenders, and plugs should be here today. Hopefully I can finish installing it tonight with the stuck muffler.

Have yet to pick a muffler. I think I have it down to two that I'm willing to deal with. The ebay one is cheeper but aluminized pipes and dual look. I'm showing the one with included tips, but you have to get them welded on. There's one just like it without the tips for less.

or the direct fit with SS pipes from Magnaflow.

But I'm getting real short on money and still want a tuner. I may just get the tuner and run the stock muffler for now.

Buy the muffler and tips you want, then have a shop bend and weld up the pipes. I should be cheaper and be of a higher quality than ebay kits.

You are right. I was looking for an easy install from my perspective and a DIY kind of project. But that still may be cheaper. I may just chop out the old muffler and clamp in a new. Should be even cheaper but messier. Not like this job hasn't been messy as it is.

But first, get done with the headers and order a tuner. I'm getting anxious to have my truck back! 98% sure I'm going to go with a SCT tuner tuned by VMP. I just gotta pick out some programs.. I'm going to go with 1 economy, 1 performance and 1 towing. The octane levels is what throwing me. Maybe I should go with 2 econs and 1 towing?

If your not looking for a true dual set up and your looking for a nice tone and not too loud, just go with a SI/DO magnaflow system. Its not too loud, cant even hear when your coasting down the road but when you push the gas you'll defiently hear it. I think i have a video of mine on youtube somewhere my buddy made the day after i put it on. Its gotten deeper and louder since then.

Here it is.

This is the same setup i believe.

Got it all put back together. Hooked up the stock muffler for now. Does sound tougher and sure does seem to move better!

Not happy how I routed the O2 sensor wires. Hope I don't melt them.

I brought it in yesterday to have it looked over and get a muffler welded on and they are fine they said. They are planty far enough away.

I screwed up on the muffler, in my hurry to get it "done" I settled for muffler (MagnaFlow) that was available that was smaller than what I wanted. It sounds good, but louder than what I was going for. I think it actually did run better with the stock muffler on. But there was broken pieces in the oem muffler that's rattling around a lot in it. Probably busted up cat pieces.

Run a 22" body Magnaflow SI/DO and be done with it. The heat and pressure from the LTs and 3" pipe will open in up in tone so better to go with the big boy than smaller one that will be way louder.

American Racing, Dynatech, and Pacesetter make 2wd F150 headers.. American Racing does not offer 4wd headers, the other two do.

Yes, that is what I had originally decided on the longer(est) one, but just wanted to get it done "now" and settled for the "little boy". Shop said it shouldn't be to bad. But I knew I was in trouble when they fired it up and I could here it in the lobby. I guess it'll be fun for a little while until I get the right one.

3" pipe? I think it's 2 1/2"?

I haven't done anything more with it. But I'm actually starting to like the louder exhaust, however on longer trips still not so much. Think I'll keep it and think about it a little longer.

Tuner is the next step. Been debating the tunes I'll order with it. Main goal is economical tunes for tuning and normal driving. The kicker for me seems to be picking the right octane level. I understand that the premium unleaded will provide a little extra boost, but I'm not sure if it makes a big enough difference to save money long run. 92 is available locally. 89 at certain locations are the same price as 87. But when I'm on the road that is not the case. I know I've hit this question a couple of times but maybe I was specific enough on my question.
