Ok. I did get the headers with cats included. So those should provide some back pressure. Is it enough alone? If I just keep the stock muffler that for sure won't be an issue I'm guessing.

Before I get too far ahead of myself I'm wondering if I should get new manifold exhaust gaskets and what studs to use for the OBX headers. I believe the kit comes with the hardware needed, but think I should make sure I have good gaskets and very good ss studs so if I need to get back in there sometime it will be easier.

I hope to god that you aren't referring to straight-through mufflers. But if you're talking about real true duals, then you're are right about adding an X/H-pipe. The back pressure part is a myth.

Well it should be here tomorrow, so it might be too late to get these. Would I need to go directly to a ford dealer to get them?

Looking at the sct x3 with custom tunes from VMP tuning.

And here I thought I'd save some money and just replace the cats myself.

Just to recap, what exactly are you wanting to do?

True duals/SIDO/cheap/performance/quiet?

Maybe: (1)Sound I can live with(described below)/(2)cheap/(3)performance/SIDO/SISO

What's being done : Getting OBX Long Tubes with cats. Was going to plug right into stock muffler to see how it goes. But Stock muffler may have pieces of old cat in it and it maybe time to swap it out.

I want to improve performance, but don't want something that will wake the neighbors. Want to be able to talk normally and listen to the radio. But want to feel like I'm in a truck and hear the rumble especially when I take off. I don't want a highway drone when I'm going 70mph. I've spent way more than I wanted to already and do plan on buying a tuner to make the truck work well with the OBX LT's.

This is my first time playing with an exhaust on a vehicle. I had originally wanted to do a complete SS Cat back system, perferably a SIDO. I think to save cost I'm down to just getting a universal replacement muffler for the stock pipe. Or possibly getting a ebay system for $200 but I think both of those that I posted before are going to be too loud or drone too much.

I appreciate the feedback.

I did find a good deal on a Magnaflow cutback 15749 system for $435. Debating if it's worth the extra money. The system can be found below, however that's not the place I found the price for it. Just that it has much better information on the system. Pretty tempting.

Nope, after closer examination - not for the supercrew.

Ok, just buy the muffler and tip(s) you want off of performancepeddler.com, use the code "clubgp". Have a shop bend and weld the pipes. A 3" intermediate pipe, inlet/outlet, and tailpipe will be good for performance and sound. The tip size and style is completely up to you.

Your headers do come with a Y-pipe, right?

What are the dimensions of the pipe? (inlet/outlet sizes)

My headers arrived Sat. Came poorly packaged, and one clamp bent badly, but otherwise ok. The gasket was gouged also. I was going to get Ford Seals and manifold studs. Be prepared to spend the money on those. Starting working on it. What a job. Driver side tubes are on. Things to remember for others that do this job, leave headers loose before attaching the EGR tube...I think it's on good now, but that was after I lossened the headers up to get the tube on. I connected it to the headers and then the the EGR unit. The tube seems like I should be able to thread more on near the base by the headers, I'll keep cranking it a little every day and see how if running it helps too.

Passenger side. I've been fighting one remaining almost broken off stud. Used PB blaster, wd40, seafoam seep, and some freezing stuff. Used drills, bolt out kits, vise-grips, used low heat. Finally today and got a serious tourch and laid into it, follwed up quickly with some penetrating oil and was able to get my bolt extractor hammered on and it moved. More heat, more extrator and it finnally came out. I've been working on that one on and off for a couple weeks.

After getting it off, I put in my new studs and proceeded to try to get the headers in place. After some time attempting this, and getting it pretty far, I realized it wasn't going to happen unless I removed the studs I just put in. So off it came and out they went. I ended the job with the header in place and about 4 studs in place. It is a challenge getting those in with the header in place.

I was going to extend my sensors myself, but I decided it might be best to get some oxygen extenders. So I'm ordering them tonight along with some plugs to plug the extra 2 sensor holes. I'm wondering what is the best way to route the wires to their spot.

bent clamp

I ordered the the tubes with cats. But are you suppose to be able to see through them?
