I currently have a flowmaster on my 06 F150 5.4L V8 and i am NOT happy with the sound. I ordered a Magnaflow 14" round muffler (p/n 14419) and it will be arriving this afternoon. As soon as i get it im going strait to the shop to have them rip out the flowmaster and put on the Magnaflow. I will never go with flowmaster again

Care to elaborate more on why you dislike the flowmaster? Just curious, I like to hear numerous opinions.

i can elaborate a little bit as to why I dont like flowmasters at all. One) too quiet. Two) performance is hindered a little bit. granted it may be a slightly bettern stock a straight through muffler will give you better performance. ive had flowmasters on my truck for approx 8 months, then i straight piped it. usually you lose a little low end when you straight pipe a truck, but i GAINED a little low end and now can hold over drive great when going up steep hills, never could before.

Too quiet huh? What Flowmaster did you have on your truck because I've never heard anyone say the 40 series was too quiet?

i had a 40 series si/do running to two tips coming out under my bumper. and yes, IMO it was way too quiet. i love the growl and amount of sound a straight pipe setup gives you compared to the mellow sound of a flowmaster. and i aint makin chit up about my performance gains when removing my flowmaster, i gained some low end power cuz that darn muffler was holdin it back a little and i had got used to it. btw ive got all stock cats

ya, its to quiet and the drone is terrible on the freeway at 70-75 (which is usually what i drive).

Just put a magnaflow 14" round muffler (strait through design) and wow what a difference. Already louder than the flowmaster 40 and its not even broken in yet, it has a deeper more aggressive and cleaner tone, and alot less drone. couldnt be happier with the switch over.

yes its much to quiet, especially noticeable how quiet it was after moving to the magnaflow. I know it has alot to do with going from a chambered muffler to strait through design but the tone is much more aggressive

just my opinion

I just put a SISO Flowmaster 40 series and I think its a tad quiet but I just got it a couple days ago. I am hoping it will break in and get louder....its an all stock system, just 40 series replaced the stock muffler. The muffler is at the front of the bed and not under the cab as I was afraid that I would get a drone in the cab, so far so good with that. Anyone know what average break in is on these?

^ chambered mufflers dont break in..and if you think thats to quiet maybe you should look into high flow converters

I'm getting married in September. This past year I bought 2 four wheelers, a camaro, restored my vettes interior and some motor parts and now I'm doing the programmer/exhaust/intake upgrades to the F150.

You'd better get to modding now then. Trust me, after September you'll be spending your cash on other things. Look at the bright side though, after 20 years or so, she might let you start collecting/playing with the toys again!
