Magnaflow 94106 questions.....

I searched through the threads but didn't really get the answer I was looking for. As of now I have:

- 3" pipe from the y-pipe into the muffler
- Magnaflow 14" body muffler
- 2 1/2" tailpipes
- 4" x 18" rolled stainless tips

I love how the exhaust sounds but I wouldn't mind if it was a little deeper and louder. What I don't want is a lot of rasp/popping. Will the 94106's give me that deeper sound with more volume or will they just add more volume, popping, and rasp?

I can't find any videos of high-flows with a 14" body Magnaflow except on older trucks. Sounds great on them but I know they sound much different with the 2V motor as compared to the 3V.

I love how this truck sounds but I'm sure mine wouldn't sound anything like this:

This guy has high-flow cats with a DI/DO 14" body Magnaflow muffler. Still sounds good but not as good as the first video:

Opinions? Am I wasting my time with the high-flows or will they give me the louder/deeper tone I'm after without adding too much rasp/popping?

They will be louder on throttle, slightly better idle, and the louder volume will produce a deep sound.

The black truck is member Andrew, and hes running 94306 cats.

I thought this guy had 94106s, but he too has 94306s. Not much of a difference, the 306s are only 3"s longer.

You and me both 08. I love it, but I want it deeper and louder. I want to hear mine with 94106's tho and 94306's. What I think i will end up doing is going to the shop (prolly going to be next year) and then have then test fit each one if possible. As long as it doesn't get much louder inside then I could care less how loud it is outside. This muffler sound bada$$, but it needs to be deeper and somewhat louder to fully satisfy me.

I agree with Darren.

Check my youtube clips out. MBRP may not be Magnaflow but the sound is similar between the cat back systems. Then you can compare between the Magnaflow cat back muffler and the 14" muffler. At cruise you will barely hear it and most likely won't hear it if you have the radio on. I drove mine about 150 miles yesterday and didn't even pay attention to it until I had to accelerate.

I have in cab about midway through those youtube clips (don't know why it didn't show my sig) but those are parked idle and rev. Next chance I get I will get a cruising video if you still need it. Might be a week or so.

Thanks for the help guys and rllackey28 those clips do help!

I think I'll go ahead and do the 94106 cats when I get a chance and hopefully it will sound like I want it to. I've heard the clips of the Roush Off-Road with the 94106 cats and although it does sound good it's a bit too "rappy" for me. Like I said hopefully this'll do it...... I'm tired of spending money on exhaust!

Darren...... how do you think the 14" body with 94106 cats will sound compared to your setup? Deeper, louder, etc.? Most guys around here seem to be running Flow 40's or straight pipe. I want my truck to be fairly loud, not have too much drone, and keep the deep tone. I think the problem is that my wife's GT has Borla Stingers and they sound incredible -- much better than my truck!

It should sound real good with hi-flows. The videos with hi-flows make it sound more raspier then the exhaust actually is so don't go by videos 100%. I think you will be very happy with hi-flows though, i would think it would get deeper.

Alright...... now that I've found out that I can do the Gotts O2 mod and just use straight pipe instead of cats I think I'll do that for the time being. If I were to cut my factory cats out with a sawzall and clamp a piece of pipe up there what is the best type of clamps to use? I bought some Summit Racing 2.5" stainless clamps the other day for my tailpipes and they didn't seal too well. I ended up having to weld a bit where the clamp comes together and I would like to avoid that if at all possible when I clamp this new piece in place.

One last question..... how would no cats sound compared to high-flows?

Since you have true duals and flows your exhaust is going to be a pretty good bit raspier than mine without cats and the maggie 14", right?

Which type of clamps would you use? I think I'll just use some band clamps that I can get at a local auto parts store and if they leak a bit I'll just weld them up like I did the others.

Man, I think there is a video here somewhere with a guy that has 14" and no cats, but I'm not sure where it is. As for the clamps, I much prefer welds if you can get it done. If not, Darren has clamps on his, he'll probably have some advise on that subject once he sees this thread.

I can weld them up without issues...... I would just rather have it reversible if possible. We've got 14 Miller MIG welders in the shop so I can definitely do it. Been welding since I was about 8 years old....... ol' man wanted to make sure he got the most of me!

Right on. I'm also a welder, but I weld mostly aluminium.
