Well I would get 3" from the y pipe to the muffler and then after the muffler. It will be louder, sound better and deeper. That is for a si/so

2.5" will crackle more, but upgrade tp 3" if you financially can, or if your intermediate pipe is rusted to hell change to 3", better flow path and performance.
