Magnaflow 16616 breaks up under heavy throttle sometimes...replace it?

I'm beginning to hate my Magnaflow 16616 exhaust! I've noticed that this exhaust system breaks up under a load in the higher RPMs. Is this normal? When I put it in neutral and rev it, its fine, but when I'm actually driving, it breaks up some times. My friend that owns a shop said its probably because the muffler is so small and the system is like 3-4ft shorter then the factory location. I hate the way it sounds....should I get rid of what I have and go another route? Please advise!!!

You must have a bad relationship with your exhaust for it to break up on you.

It like ....backfires under acceleration. It only does sometimes under load. If you rev it in park or in neutral its fine...which is why I think it not engine related...and I have no codes either.

I don't think it's the muffler. Never heard such a thing. I think it is something in the engine thathappens under a load.

It doesn't do it all of the time....
When I first had it put on, it backfired alot! I assumed the computer has to "learn" there is new exhaust. I never heard this when it had the stock exhaust at all.

Its more of a slight pop...

All straight through exhausts will make a little grumble pops time to time. Mine does but its not a constant loud shotgun backfire.

I don't think the computer adjusts for exhaust changes from the Cats back.

That popping noise is normal. I have the same system on my truck. I can produce that noise easily just by driving downhill at 30-40 mph, take my foot of the gas and down-shift the transmission into second.

If you don't like the sound, replace the exhaust.

Yeah, that's normal on a straight-thru designed muffler. You didn't hear it on the stock muffler because of how restrictive it is, and they design the stock exhaust so that you can't hear that.

Are you saying it does just like the video? If it does it when you let off, that is normal. What you hear in the video is normal. If you are saying it makes that same sound under acceleration, then you have a fuel or ignition problem.

Just the straight through muffler affect

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y2a7...e=channel_page

The pressure of a SI/DO muffler straight through will cause a little poping especially when cold. Longer length exhausts do it less.
