True Duals W/ low end
True duals are exhaust, in which there is one pipe coming off each manifold. So you want true duals, I would HIGHLY recommend an X pipe.
6,000? try 8,000 lb haha, ok so your saying i might see the lose of low end when pulling, with just the duals, or after the cai and programmer?
If you are going to run true duals, you would be best off running 2.25" full throughout after the cats to keep the scavenging strong. 2.5" true duals even with a crossover will not retain great low end, it'll sound good thats mainly it, and un-loaded it will perform finely but with a 8,000lb trailer you will not enjoy the lack of power with 2.5" duals.
Before you go saying what someone should get, you should start explaining the affects of what an X pipe does in good detail if you "highly" suggest why someone should get one, helping them better understand what they should go with and help prevent further questioning down the road.

Well with my canned Gryphon tunes it made my truck feel as quick as a GM truck. Very easy on the throttle now because any more than 1/4 throttle on a take off with chirp the rears. Since the CAI draws in more open air with a more open filter, its helpful for power, and the custom tune ( a requirement for all 3v engines if a CAI is added ) helps program the PCM of all modifications done to help get the most saftey and optimal performance out of all modifications. They both help out great and are worth wile investments. Remember if you get a CAI, you will need a custom tune to run it safely.

Same with me but my truck feels like it has dogged out alot. I pulled a 5,000lb trailer quite well with the stock exhaust, pulled it again 3 months later when I had exhaust done and it felt like it was pushing a hell of alot harder to do the same as last time.
for unloaded driving your not going to notice the torque loss. even with my duals (and i dont even have an x-pipe, i need to get on that before i move away) i was still almost able to keep up with a 5.7 hemi in the low end.
An X pipe should be as close to where the factory Y was located as possible for best balancing.

If I had told him get this and why, I would come off as arrogant and demeaning his knowledge.
Well you told him to get an X pipe without an explanation. I meant you should explain the affects and performance differences with an X pipe compared to no cross over. The way I adivse people is if I had a low knowledge about exhaust, how would I like to be informed? Fully, or just suggested a couple things without background information or further in deph info, i'd take the explanation.

While stock? Thats actually impressive, was the Chevy 'trying'? GM trucks are a few pounds lighter and are programmed much better than Fords are. Ford tuning contains alot of lags, I have never seen an all stock F150 whoop an all stock GM truck of our generation, or even the previous generatiobn '97 - '03. I dont race my truck but ever since I got my Gryphon my GM buddies are very impressed with the harder pull my truck has now but the fact of the matter is, the truck is still about 5400lbs.
