Think of it as it telling you where to stick another pipe into. Don't think of it as a outlet cause it's not an outlet yet until there's an actual exit made. The diagram shows it all. The main pipe from the y is centralized in the middle of the muffler. Gotta get under that truck to know for sure but I don't think you said anything about a SI/DO

It probably doesn't sound like you thought it would because it's a 40 series on a F150. Our trucks aren't too loud.

Look at the pipe that goes from the y-pipe into the muffler and if that pipe is centered in the actual muffler it's on correct. It appears your muffler is SI/SO and if this is true the SI portion would be in the center of the muffler not off to the right side......
Nope. Flowmaster has varying setups to accommodate for different vehicle configurations.

Get my point? Flowmasters have an Inlet and Outlet. Some, usually SIDO have different diameters for inlet/outlet. So "Inlet" means where the exhaust should enter the muffler, and "Outlet" is where it's supposed to exit.

The guy who installed that must have been pretty stoned... Do complain about this matter, the muffler being backwards is not only sounding weird, but I bet your economy is about 1.5mpg lower due to its not flowing at all properly.

I have a 44 that makes some noise. If you put the same muffler on a chevy, dodge, and a ford. I'm pretty positive ford will not be the loudest. A 40 series isn't as loud as a super 44 either.

Thats because our OEM mufflers are the largest, and our cats ( especially 4 cat systems ) are the most restricted, and quietest.

our cats are not restrictive-quiet yes-the back pressure is minimal on 4 properly acting cats-i tested mine under load up to 5000rpm in 2nd gear
