I was washin my truck the otherday when I saw the word INLET on the back part of my flowmaster. Am I goin nuts or did the guy at Midas install it backwards?? It is a Flowmaster 40 Delta flow btw. Does it even matter if its backwards??

These are pics from the REAR of the truck,You can see part of the spare in one of em.

What sereis muffler is that, i dont know exactly, but i think it doesnt matter which way they go with some flowmasters...? But yeah look into that, and if it is backwards, bring it back and have them switch it around at no charge!

Yup. When I had my system installed there was a guy there all pissed off because some out of town shop installed his flowmaster backwards too. Go back to wherever installed it for you and smack them around a little. No excuse for that kind of crap.

And yes it does matter that its backwards. Your exhaust is flowing though the muffler completely wrong.

If I'm correct the interior of your muffler has V shaped chambers inside of it. Your exhaust gas is passing through like this:

what it should look like

Considering it says "INLET" on the muffler and that side is facing the rear of the truck I'm pretty sure it's backwards.

I guess they really gave it the "Midas touch"!

Yours is doing the opposite.

I'm pretty sure your exhaust is on CORRECT. The main pipe from the y section should go into the middle of your muffler. It appears your muffler is SI/SO and if this is true the SI portion would be in the center of the muffler not off to the right side. If you look at the picture provided you can see what I'm talking about (labeled low pressure chamber) and if you look closer you can see there is an impression for another pipe to come out on the left side of the muffler. Look at the pipe that goes from the y-pipe into the muffler and if that pipe is centered in the actual muffler it's on correct.
