Salvage Yard Surprise

Hey guys, I went over to a salvage yard to help a buddy of mine pull a transmission out of an 02 F150, and they had a new body style with a 4.6L there that had been t-boned something NASTY. Looked like it got hit by a dump truck! I poked around it for a bit and something shiny caught my eye. Looks like it had recently had long tubes installed, they don't look damaged whatsoever, however the driver side damage looks like it might be next to impossible to get them out. They said they only wanted $50 for the pair, and wished me luck getting them out. What are your thoughts? Should I try and get them out not knowing what brand they are, if there really is any damage, etc? They're obviously longtube and stainless, that's about all I know. What you guys think?

I just had an idea...

Trailer over my tractor with loader and flip the truck over onto the passenger side.

Chances are they are for the 97-03 body and had been modified to fit or they are custom. AFAIK, nobody makes long tubes for a 4.6 equipped 04-up 150

You can get a set of Pacesetter Quick Trips for the 04+ 4.6L

(but these weren't the right color)

Pull the engine out. Rent an engine hoist....

50 bucks is a steal for stainless LTs

I agree...either hoist out the engine, torch it apart, or if you have to flip the darn thing with the tractor. I would get clearance with the scrap yard first though before you roll out the torch and tanks or pull up on the John Deere, lol. But at that price you have a lot of room in price to take a chance on them.

Not sure but you might want to keep the studs and nuts for them if you decide to take them. I know mine required all new hardware.
