See they dont let water in. Right after i went mudding i took of the filter it was driping water off i looked in the tube NOTHING nothing at all was down the tube. i think if it can make it threw a lil bit of rain. if not they have the Pre filter like you guys are talking about thats waterproof...

ill go find that other hood scoop thats 85 bucks but the same hoodscoop.

Well lets see here ...

The two hood scoops are drastically different. It's not just the name. Both of them are non functional until you cut out your hood. Sure, the Roush is more money. It looks a million times better and it's going to be quality stuff where as the other one is going to lack both of those qualities.

Oiled filters do not repel water. Sure they do a certain extent. However do not think for one second that you went mudding and nothing was sucked into it. It's the nature of the beast. I knew a girl who had a Celica that was fully race ready that she used as her daily driver. Fenders were gone so when it rained water got on her filter. Guess what happened? The motor hydrolocked because one day it sucked in so much water on the way home ...

If you do this, you will without a doubt, need a dyno tune. Think about ... I was running extremely lean, no CEL either, with a S&B intake on the factory tuning. Cutting the hood is going to increase air flow drastically. If you're having a rough idle now it just proves my point ...

Thank you thump. now that you say that the roush hood is made of better stuff. i like the look of the cheap one personaly. and i know my engine prob sucked in a lil bit of water but there was no mud or anything in the tube it wasnt wet or anything. the filter was soaked but nothing in the tube. Yes i completly understand what your saying here i know im making it sound like im hard headed ill look into those prefilter to stop water/snow from coming in.

Do you think it would be ok to run my truck stock tune for a week or 2 so i can get soem more money and then go to livernois? *i have the rough idle because the IAC tube isnt in the tube its just blocked off. im going to put it back in sometime this week or next week so it will idle fine.

Thanks thump i know i sound retarted sometimes just lemme know whats up ill lisen

Since this thread is, generally, on target (btw, the gravity comment was hilarious)... I'm just going to hold off on responding to the quoted comment above.

Whew... so tempting though....

Back to your normally scheduled oiled snorkle thread.

Boy shifty, it sounds like that some of these guys are making sport of you....

What are you going to do with the little "air box" that came with your K&N? I would be willing to take it off your hands. What O2 simulator are you using? I can't remember if you took the cats off or not. And did you use the gaskets the headers came with?

I know this was off topic, except for the "air box", but my nut that holds the egr tube rusted off, and I need a new manifold, and I have been meaning to ask you those questions. So might as well get headers.

Hey thump and joshmac, let us know how those birth control ideas work out.

Yeah its Roast Shifty month!!!

What "airbox?" the big shiny pipe? i might sell that once i get the intake figured out this way. im using Sim's from RPMoutlet.com i dont have any cats. Yes i did use the gaskets that came with the headers they sealed fine. witch part of the EGR? the part on the intake or the part on the exhuast manifold? i have both.

The part that goes on the manifold. I checked on the 4.6 headers and pacesetter does not have them instock or an eta on when they will. So that leaves me with the ones you got that are for the 5.4. How did you work your egr into the header since they were different sizes? Did you do a egr delete, and how much did that cost? The "air box" I was referring to is the sheet metal that was around your K&N filter. Don't need the tube just that. I need to decide something by this weekend, headers 300 or just a new manifold 150. I don't want to drive around like this much longer.

btw, the spot where the egr goes into the manifold is basicly ruined, that is why I need to do something.
