Roush , you have PI heads correct ? 2001 4six motors had the PI's , I'm pretty sure.

I remember Built54 was @ 260 RWHP in his 98 5.4L. When he was running the stock motor in his truck. He had done the PI conversion and I think he had LT's as well.

I think you did very well .

congrats

BTW- Looks like you need an X-pipe to smooth out that torque

From what I've seen LT's have always been around 30 hp - If you dyno tune after - That's a ++

I think if you install LT's with a properly proportioned exhaust. A gear swap (4.10's for up to 305's on the rubber) . E-Fans. Under-drive pulleys.

Then a Dyno tune - you'll have a powerful set up.

I'm not sure a Larger MAF or over-sized TB would really be needed yet, if at all. I think on the 97-03 models that would only be necessary IF you maxed out the 19's.

Gears are next for me . Feakin 4X4's are expensive - I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to attempt setting them up yet

Everyone please remember what I said before, the a/f is a full point better now than on the before numbers, so the gains are inflated a little.

Yes, PI heads, ported by me, average flow gains of 10% intake, 15% exhaust

I think you have the combo right, plus he had cams. I'd say the cams and porting pretty much offset each other. My porting will be worth much more if I do cams down the road.

The shop I went to does some good modular cams, they were trying to talk me into their stage II grinds and thought I would be well over 300rwhp with them. I wanted them to grind me some custom cams back when I had a 5.4 SOHC stuffed into a Mustang, maybe I'll stick them in the truck some day. Not anytime real soon though, next mod will be to try the HPS intake and see if its worth anything on a mild combo. I've got an adapter to bolt it to the truck elbow all machined up and ready to go, the intake has been delayed but I think is just about ready to go. After that comes torque converter, then maybe pulleys or wait to do cams.....

NICE!!! Sort of makes all this seem worth while. (..says teh guy who hasn't even pulled the manifolds yet.)

I wouldn't think it would be too unreasonable to expect 25/30 on my 4.6 then...especially with fresh tunes.

e-fans
K&N/Roush CAI w/ bigass conical filter
'03 Cobra air meter
24lb injectors
heads ported by owner
compression raised to 9.8:1 using n/a 4.6 Cobra pistons & opening combustion chambers
OBX longtubes, Magnaflow spun cats, Flowmaster single 3" muffler
SCT XCal II tuned by TP

pulleys should be worth about 8/8 based on when I tested them on my 5.4 'Stang

Flowmaster costing some power? Who knows, I'd like to switch to a single 3" Magnaflow but thats a lot of money for unknown gains, plus it sounds pretty wicked as-is....

The next major gainer would be cams, just don't have them planned in any near future. The shop I would get them from has gotten ~300rwhp from '01-04 4.6 2v Mustangs with bolt-ons, longtubes, tuning, and custom cams. They have an '05 shop mule thats at 360/360 with ported heads and custom cams (longtubes, etc...). Their stage II cams fit with stock valvesprings so it would be an easy install, its just $600 I don't have set aside right now.
