Magnaflow

I've been reading through all these posts and from what I can tell the Magnaflow cat-back system sounds like what I want on my 04' F-150. Performance, good sound and not too obnoxious.

Should I get 2.5" or 3" pipes? Whats the difference? In regards, to performance or sound.

At some point I plan to get a new cold air intake--would it make a difference then?

I just put in a 3" sigle unit. I have a K&N fipk and a chip. have only had it for two days, but am very satisfied(just like everyone else).

Go for the 3" pipe...if you're gonna spend the money, then upgrade.

good luck

Scottie B,

How much horsepower increase did you get with all your mods?

*4.6l 4X4
*Magnaflow 3" SI/SO Cat back
*K&N FIPK
*1715 (Thanks Anita Troyer)
*Tinted Windows
*Back Window Flag/Eagle Mural

Thanks,
Jeff

increase in HP

newsjeff

In order of best to least:
1715
exhaust
fipk

% increase(I'm guessing)
1715 in 93 oct- 8%(15-25hp)
exhaust- 3%(10hp)
fipk- 2%(8hp)

Call Troyer Performance! The 1715 or something similar(there's lots to choose from) is your best bang for your buck as far as I am concerned.

If I could do it over I would get a custom chip right after I purchased the exhaust and filter kit(probably not the K&N)

come to think of it, it could be double the amounts? Although that seems WAY to much HP.

I really don't know jack about this shiznet, but going by all the great info listed in this AWESOME site, it would seem to be close to impossible to get 50 HP out of a tuner, 20 out of an exhaust & 16 out of the k&n= 86 more HP, that's close to a 25% increase(either my truck is on steroids, or I'm full of crap).

25, 10 & 8

That seems more realistic, & yes, it's my final answer.

Happy Hunting

Not too bad

Scottie, that's 43 more ponies under your hood. That sound very good to me. I just got a 2002 F-150 4X4 with 25,000 miles. I'm looking get a little more horsepower out of my 4.6 engine.
I like what you've done. I guess you don't like the K&N kit you added, huh? They look good to me.
I'm putting a PA 3" body life, American Eagle 186 rims and 305/70/16 AT's on my truck next week - if all goes well. Then I need to work on the engine. Thanks for your help.

I'm from the belief that performance comes BEFORE looks, that's why I haven't bought rims and tires yet. The Air force One intake, however, LOOKS 100% nicer than the K&N and it performs equal to or better(so people say).

It's a no-brainer, in my opinion.

How can any self-respecting truck owner not install this stuff themselves?? Sorry, read some other posts. Just venting.

I have a MAC Pro-Chamber and Magnaflow MaxPacks on my '04 Stang GT. Driving a Maybach 62 couldn't get more attention. Nothing more to say. It sounds *******ng AWESOME!!

Just remember - cutting backpressure kills low end torque. The new F-150 has no manual trans on the V-8 models and most automatics and lack of torque are not a good mix.
