Smile Fog Lights Install

I just purchased factory foglights for my 97 and want to wire them up to my switch. My switch pulls out as if the lights were there and I am wondering if the wires are already in place. Would be great if all I have to do is plug the lights in. Thanks for any help. Want

I did this same mod on my 99 not too long ago. My switch also seemd to work exactly like the new one that came in the kit, but when I plugged into the harness it did not work. Turned out they did not put the contacts in the non fog light switch. If you want a switch you need to replace it with the new one.

How much were the factory fog lights. Was the wiring already there. Was changing the switch all you needed to do.

There about $330 from the dealer. On the XLT's the wiring is there, on some. Look under the bumper and look for this

the plug, if you see that than the wiring is there. Than all you do is replace the head light switch and there you go.

Wantmorespeed,

The pull out and stop may not be the fog light switch, but actually the first position of removing the headlight switch.
I read this in the fog light mod ( turning the fog lights on with the parking lights only ).
The wiring harness if it is installed in the truck, are held up with palstic bullets right above where the light should be at.

Next things to check are if the fuse ( and relay ?? ) is installed in the fuse block. I think this is the one under the hood, but I am unsure.
If you search the L forum you should find the fog light switch mod, that explains how to take the switch out when you need to replace it. Also you might want to do this mod, before you put the new one in.
Try the search term [ fog* light switch ] That *might* get the results for it,

Does anyone have a photo of a 97 or p8 with the foglights. I was looking at mine and i am not sure where they would go. Did the 97 trucks with foglights have a different bumber.

I told him he was crazy and the option for fog lights was not that much factory. Wish I had purchased the truck new. Would have had them put on then. Anyway......... Does anyone know the real price for this part. Any Help Would be appreciated. THX

wiring harness's are expensive. you can try and make your own but i wouldnt even try. another option is just to set them up with a switch on the dash and run all your own wiring. it would be cheaper but wouldnt be stock which is what you seem to be going for. if the plug is there the wiring should be. you could always go to a junk yard and find your year truck with fogs and get the wiring and switches from that. it would be ALOT cheaper then the stealership
