If it's flashing, there is something wrong with the transmission.

Similar to a Check Engine Light but this one is for the tranny.

If you take it to a dealer, they can scan the computer.

gina and scott-

If your transmission shop doesn't know what Aj mentioned, go to a reputable dealer. Try a Ford dealership.

There is something wrong with the tranny if you are having problems like if there are no shifting problems then it would be the wires in the shifter its self.

The F150 automatic transmission has about eleven sensors on it. The sensors cause good things to happen. When a sensor fails the good thing it caused doesn't happen anymore and the OD light blinks to let you know there is a problem.

Sensors can fail intermittently, this can be very frustrating when the OD light doesn't blink at the dealership but, does when your down the road. If this is the case, Ford can lend you a 'flight recorder' which will give you the ability to trap the code necessary to identify the problem.

A sensor itself only costs 30-60 dollars but, you can't just pick it up at the parts counter, it has to be programmed then installed still, this is usually less than $200.

A blinking OD light, left to just blink could lead to a $2,000 transmission.

Good Luck,

Aj, I usually don't break it down like that but, the User Name said, 'gina and scott' and for some reason I pictured them sharing a chair, each with their own half of the keyboard.

I got the feeling that scott could type all he wanted to but, gina had control of the mouse.

just wanted to tell everyone that we got the truck fixed. and since the truck has 40" tires and is lifted there was a wire under the truck somewhere(sorry i'm not sure where) that was worn out because of the lift. it was stretched out. thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions.
