Angry door ajar warning light

My door ajar light stays on most of the time and so did my interior light until I unplugged the fuse for the interior light. I cannot find any door switch visible. How can I replace the door switch. Or is this what the problem is?

the switch is inside the frame. Many people here have had luck by spraying some WD40 to free up the switch. Give it a try. This should solve your problem without the need to replace the switch.

spray the latch. it's on the part of the door that swings out. just give it a few good squirts. i'm not sure exactly what part of the latch the switch is located on but it's in there.

Angry door ajar warning light

I'm having the same problem.
It only seems to happen after driving for a long time.
While the truck is on, the door ajar light is on.
When I turn the truck off, the interior light and cargo light above the back window stay on for a while.
The real pain of this is if you have an aftermarket alarm system.
It won't arm until the interior light goes off....that interior light is one of the sensors for the alarm.

Is this the same problem others are having ???
Please be specific in letting us know how to correct this problem.

I actually went as far as to pull the interior light bulb and cargo light bulbs out !!!

Thanks for any help !

I throught I would have to replace my switch also, but the the maintenance guy at work told me that all the Ford Econolines that the compnay had bought in the past few years had th e same problems. After multiple trips to the local dealer the figured that a little in the latch mechanism on both doors would fix the problem

Its a 97 into the early 2000 problem, the guy at my local dealership and I were talking about it. I had mine replaced a while back and it did it again after about 4 months. He claims that ford has now gotten better switches that dont do this (I dont quite believe that) but it is a real hastle to get that switch out and I dont believe it is worth the $$ to have them do it so I just spray it. It effects half tons, expy's E series Lincolns and who knows what else. Someone had a really bad idea with that switch and he sold a lot of people on it. I guess it is easier to make 1 switch instead of 16 different ones though.

Thumbs down had the same problem

But I fixed it by spraying some white lithium grease in the latch and it worked like a charm.

I am having this problem also but it is a random thing, when you guys say spray the "latch" do you mean the inside of the door handle assembly? or do you meen whare the metal bar goes into the door by the hinges?

Also I am getting some weird things with my winshield wipers.. some times when i set them to delay they do what ever they want.. hehe
