Nope, they are not related. Change the coil out with Motorcraft, Denso, or Delphi available at rockauto cheaper than locally if you can wait.

#5 is the front plug on the driver's side.

Actually, they ARE related. The PCM automatically disables the A/C when certain other fault conditions, like a severe misfire, occurs. The factory service manual for this vehicle contains the following advisory in the diagnostic procedure for the climate control:
  1. NOTE: Some PCM DTCs may inhibit A/C operation. If any PCM DTCs are retrieved, diagnose those first. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual.
P035x DTCs are often caused by a connector or wiring concern or a PCM problem rather than a faulty coil. This is one of those few times when it would be useful to ohm out the coil first to see if it's open before buying or replacing anything on a hunch. It would behoove one to actually do some troubleshooting before getting a tool or a credit card out so as to not waste your time or money.

You are correct,I did replace coil, and it did not change.plugs we're changed 17000 miles ago,I'm waiting,as truck is at a local shop to figure out.i didn't want to mess with the plug,or testing .
Usually cost me more, once I break something.
I might have bought a coil I didn't need

you were correct,it turned out to be the wire goil to coil was bad.Probably from rubbing against brake resovoir bracket over time.I did not see any damage, but traced down by mechanic. Was told the part was $90 from ford.they only replaced the wire, connector to #5 coil
