2001 XLT Trailer wiring

I have a 7 pin plug on my bumper for a trailer, BUT, there are only 5 wires on the vehicle side hooked up to the plug. there are 7 wires coming from the harness on the truck, but 2 of the wires are wrapped together and not connected to the plug, can anyone help me?

You should go to a junkyard and buy the harness that isn't chopped up, then wire it accordingly.

whatever it uses, it isn't a T connector, it plugs in straight to the harness then to the plug housing

So, I looked again, and it does look like it has 2 connections before the 7 pin, and a ground wire. I think the Curt unit I ordered is an OE plug in unit.

CURT 55242

ok, this curt unit is not an oe plug in unit, I think I need to scour the junkyards or get a new part off ebay or amazon. It wont be cheap.....

the curt unit will add a 7 pin plug, but it just piggybacks on the oe 7 pin, so not sure what was going on there

this is what I need:

does anyone have the part number for this? it is underlined, but I can't read it. this was a pic I found online

So, I looked up this part number, and while it is very close, I am not sure it fits. Says it is for a 04 f150, and mine is a previous body style. also, mine does not have a 4 prong plug, just the 7 pin

I betcha that part would work fine.

Take a look at the review on Amazon:
Amazon Amazon

Here's more proof on eBay that Yl3z13a576gb doesn't work on 04+ NBS. Someone bought one and found it is only for 2001 > 2003.

Worked like a charm. Spent more time putting the truck on rhino ramps for extra headroom than I did swapping the new harness in. Good thing it has a 4 prong now. Works with my new hitch cover. The eyes are lit with parking lights or brake lights. 💀

EDIT: so the eyes are off until I brake. If my parking lights are on, the eyes are on also, and get brighter when I brake.

Oh yeah, both harnesses had a non used green wire in the middle of them on the new one, it is actually taped up to the rest of the convoluted tubing on the outside, and that wire actually has a cap on it no connector though? Have no idea what that is for
