Door Open Chime on Startup

Hey y'all. I just bought this '01 Supercrew with an aftermarket alarm already installed. Whenever I crank it up the door open chime goes off for 5 sets of 5 chimes and it has nothing to do with the door. (ie. this happens anytime I crank it up, door open or closed. It's just the same tone as the door open tone.) Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this or just disabling the door chime deal?

Thanks,
CB

That's not the door open chime, you have a burned out airbag light in the dash.

Oh really? So just pull of the cluster and replace the bulb?

Then that's what it is - pull the cluster and change the bulb. The airbag light should come on when you turn the key on, and it will stay on for a few seconds after starting the engine.

Ok replaced the bulb and the airbag light is always on now. (Explains why it was burnt out.) Do you know what I need to do? I've disconnected the electrical connector from the restraint control module near the floor vent in the past. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Does it stay on steady or does it blink? If it blinks, count the flashes, that will be a 2 digit fault code.

If you have something disconnected, that will do it.

It stays on. The RCM is definitely hooked back up now. Don't know what else it could be.

Check the airbag (SRS) fuse - if it's blown or missing that will cause the light to stay on.

You may have to take it to a dealer to get a computer diagnostic on the airbag system. Sounds like the previous owner may have had some airbag issues, or it was in a crash and the system wasn't rebuilt properly.

Don't have a fuse chart? There's one in the owner's manual, which can be downloaded from Ford.

Oh cool. So my cruise and horn don't work also. I assumed that was unrelated but apparently not based on some other threads I've read.
