Exclamation Lights Are Flickering ?

so yesterday I was driving down the road and this guy waved me down and told me my brake lights were out. When I got home I took a look and noticed that my taillights where like pulsating. Everything worked fine, just the lights would start to get dim and then get bright ect.

Then today on the way home my dash board lights were flickering on and off, and the tail lights were doing the same thing. The truck has never done that until today. It was my dash lights, climate control lights ect. The truck still runs fine except for this flickering that just started happening.

does have some input on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Time for an alternator? My '08 is starting to show a hint of dimming/flickering while idling, but looks fine while running on the highway. The last time I saw something similar was when my old '94 Ranger needed an alternator as well. Get on the pedal and everything was fine. Except in that case, the voltmeter actually dipped a little bit at a stop. These newer gauges must be even more tolerant.

had the truck in the shop the other day and they said everything looked good, just said my battery was in need of replacement, but I don't know if the battery would cause this problem?

A little bit of information on your truck (year, model, etc.) would go a long way in anybody helping you.

Why didn't you replace the battery?

^^^^^ I'm with him, but basic first shot sounds like battery/alternator issues, perhaps. Let's hear more about the truck.

Yep.

Looks like it's a 2006 HD: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ha...ml#post5046325

And cross-posting isn't helping here either: https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...lickering.html

OP - help us to help you - folks shouldn't need to be mind-readers or go searching for yet truck info. Put it in yer info block via the User CP. Soon. And - ask a Mod to merge these two threads!

So DID you not replace the battery, as GLC asked in yer other thread on this issue?

I got the 90k check up last week, and its my work truck so I needed it for the day. but I am going this Thursday to get the work done. I just don't know if the battery would cause this.

it did some searching and it seems others have had this problem, but no one posted a solution.

himsweet66six, I merged the other thread you started on this subject with this one. Please don't start multiple threads on the same subject. Doing so can lead to confusion and member irritation.

got it, sorry about that.

also literally just happened right now, went to move my truck and had the lights on auto and my headlights turned but interior lights didn't except for the climate section. when I put the lights on manually everything seemed to work fine. can it be something with the light switch itself?

awd hd?? Nice work truck! First clue is hid's and 4 way amp and sub amp, tons of draw? Alternator took a dump and prb battery also. Have your alt checked as well as the battery.

wouldn't all the lights be flickering if it was the alternator?

No, depending on the output it could cause a voltage drop in one accessory or multiple.
