4x4 indicator lamp

Hello,
can anyone show me the signal source that powers the high range 4x4 dash light?
My transfer case engages fine, but the dash light only briefly flashes on then turns off, the low range light works fine.
thank you

Can you post some specs on your truck, or complete your profile ?

Is the system ESOF ( Electronic Shift On the Fly ) or MSOF ( Mechanical Shift On the Fly ) ?

the only 2 things I can think of with an ESoF 4WD :

1. The bulb is the issue, it is loose in the socket.
2. The 4H is not working like you think it is.

The cluster indicator on the ESoF system is from the PCM over the CAN bus network to the cluster.

How are you confirming the 4H is working correctly when the indicator in the cluster goes out ?

I have a 2006 King Ranch with the same issue. I believe the 4X4 is engaged because when turning the wheels the truck hops in the typical way it does on dry pavement in 4X4.

Seems to be so many issues with 4X4....what about this post?

Ford2005FX4

I just had my IWE replaced on both sides on my 05 F150 4WD to the tune of $535 with parts labor and tax at a ford dealership. They cost $120 a pop at the dealership so if you can replace them your self you will save yourself about $300 (ridicules isnt it?) But i had the problem of a rattle/grinding noise in the front end when i would go into over drive or be at high speeds with a load on the truck but it would go away when i let off the gas pedal or if i engaged the 4W on the fly. It was a nagging thing i just couldnt figure out. I tried a tranny flush, switching the fluid in the transfer case, everything and turns out thats what it was, the IWE on each side. It took alot of power out of the truck too, it has its get up and go again! Just thought id chime in and give you guys a price on changing them.

I have read on other posts that the IWE gets moisture in it and then causes problems.

Might want to jack up the front end, and confirm if the truck is in 4x4 H, rather than working on a supposition.

Caution needs to be taken, as the motor needs to be running so the system has vacuum to be pulled out.

Could be cracked Vacuum lines / box, IWE solenoid or an IWE issue, but this is why starting with the truck up and checking if the system is locked in place or not.
