Whats this wire for?

I was changing a light bulb on my dashboard and in the process of pulling everything apart i found this random bundle of wire taped under the steering wheel. i don't know what its for. Does anyone?

One end sticks out on the left side close to the headlamp switch (i pulled it out a bit for you guys to see). the other went in the direction of the stereo. Neither end was connected to anything and as you can see the bundle was just taped under the steering wheel. Does anyone have an idea of what it might be for? or was someone just trying to play a joke on me?

Something got added, then deleted. Pull it out & trash it, or (if you're a packrat like me) keep it for a future project.

Hey! A bonus! Nothing like a freebie to make one's heart go pitter-pat!

I agree with Steve - unless you like extra wires that do nothing, I'd remove it (and save it - I'm a packrat too, Steve! ).

Can you get a close up of the end of it ?

Downloaded it, and tried to blow it up, but it just turns into a black blob

the circled part on the right side you cant see the wire. i just circled the area where it went. but its pretty much just the wire.

i was curious as to what it might be because the way its run through everything it stays out of the way. one end was behind the headlight switch and the other goes somewhere behind the stereo. i guess it was just something that had gotten added then deleted. and it used the headlamp switch for on/off or something

Oops, you're saying it's connected somewhere? That changes everything!

But, it doesn't look OEM.

it wasnt connected to anyhting. it was just going in that direction. it was just hanging there loose behind the stereo on one end and the headlight switch on the other

The last 4 new vehicles I've bought have had aftermarket security installed (the kind that a dealer has installed to somewhat protect the vehicles in inventory on the lot, but ESPECIALLY to hopefully sell to you at an inflated price), and when I decline the overpriced security, they simply have the lot kid go out and unplug the "brain" and they leave ALL the rest of the system in place. They know it's no good to you because you can't buy the brain, the systems are only sold through dealers, never private. I would say it might be something like that but they have always left ALL the rest of the system in place, not worth the work of taking it out.
