Post Ford techs and anyone else-DRL

I went to the dealer where a buddy of mine works and he couldn't find it. I took apart the plastic cowl above the radiator, coolant jug, and headlight and still couldn't find it.

I installed the relay and you can hear it click on when its supposed to.

The manual for 2000 Expys and Navigator are the same. It should be there according to it.

I know this may be getting old but I now have a mission. FIND IT!!!

Otherwise I will find a way to wire the resistor in myself.

I do appreciate all the help you folks are trying to give.

If we ever do find an answer it will be invaluable for us and future Expy owners that want to do this.

Thanks again for your effort. I never thought such a little thing could be so challenging---Bob

The vehicle above is one of many. Try refreshing. It goes by random but the Expy was exactly like mine. Now it's a
2000 EB Expedition 5.4L, Estate Green with all the perks,3.55 LS,Heated and Signal Mirrors and Seats Moon Roof. Auto adjusting peddles, seats, and mirrors. Rhino Step Bar (coming), Ford Bug Shield,Even the hitch propeller, More to come... My 99 Expy was destroyed in a Wisconsin Tornado (No B.S.) Allstate did good by me but I still took a hit on mileage.

I'm talking about the location of the DRL resistor plug on a Expy 2000.

There are some of us that would like to install DRLs without cannabilizing our trucks with the after market kit. Some are succesful and some aren't. I look to you guys that are in the know for an answer. Read my other posts.

Thanks--Bob

ExpyBob,
The diagram seems to point to the same place as where mine was. The diagram does say expedition on the bottom. I hate to keep sending you out on a wild goose chase but here is a picture of my plug inserted into the "dummy" plug under my driver's side headlamp. This is as I found it before I tampered with it. I hope this helps you. Have any other Expy drivers looked for this plug???

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure where to go from here. I left part of the front end apart so I can look again tomorrow.

If you install your relay you'll find it kicks in when it should. The problem is no juice on the light green/orange stripe wire. I have been looking through my Chiltons manual for a 15 amp source that runs nearby the relay. Maybe I could tap poxer from that and go through the resistor to the Orange wire with the green stripe pin on the DRL relay. I am concerned about heat build up. Thats why its a ceramic resistor.

I will come up with something. I started this with my 99 Expy but it was destroyed in a Wisconsin tornado. Now I'm trying again.

It seems odd to me that with all the collective talent that this sight has we haven't figured it ou yet.

All it takes is the right person to see it or someone that is a Ford tech to research it.

Until then I'll keep trying---Bob

I must have been writing at the same time you were. Thanks for the picts. There definately is something different between our truck harnesses.

I have many cuts to show for my probing exercises.

Oh, and your not sending me on a wild goose chase. Any help is very much appeciated.

Like I said, when I find it or an alternative I'll take pictures and forward to someone who knows how to put pictures on here. I have yet to master that.

Thanks again--Bob

Daytime Running Lights. Several of us want them without having to splice into the factory wiring like vultures! We have no problems on the F-150s and Supercrews, but the Expy guys are having some trouble. Check out the articles here -

I haven't been following your dilemma, so excuse me if I'm way off. On my truck there is a pigtail in the dash on the passenger side, kind of over the glovebox. I remember mention of this as part of the DRL system, but can't remember if it's for the resistor, or a relay. You may want to check there, if that's not the place for the relay. The F150s have an access panel on top of the dash in this area that's held in with spring clips. Not sure about the Expys.
