Cobra99,
Just ordered two sets of White Hot Plasma Bulbs from the J.C. Whitney catalog. They have a sale on now with a savings of 26% off regular priced bulbs. One set for the fog lights 80 watts and one set for the headlights 100/80 watts. I don't know why you would want to rewire your light switch? I got them for a 99, but, the 2000 should be the same. I have not gotten them yet, so I can't tell you how good they are yet. They should light up the night.

I called JEG's Performance and they said You would need the kit. The stock wiring is not good enough and would melt down... I would like those but i want to find out some information... Some of these stores sell the stuff great but do they help and service what they sell? Along with the correct information.

corba99,
I don't think companies like General Electric and Phillips are going to sell bulbs that are going to melt wires. These are exact replacement bulbs for stock bulbs. Your fuse would blow out, before the wires would melt. The companies would not want law suits for bulbs causing fires. Your light switch, should handle these bulbs as it is the same 12volts for stock as it is for plasma bulbs.

I95,
I don't want to disappoint you, but the 2000 uses a different fog lamp (#9145, I think) than the 1999. So you may find that the ones you ordered will not fit.

Does anyone know what the HI and LOW wattage is for the factory installed 9007 bulbs? I pulled one of mine out of my 2000, but nothing is listed.
I would also like to get bulbs which are slightly brighter, but so far every one that I have looked at says 100/80 watts and "OFF ROAD USE ONLY".

YES!!! Get a pair of Hyper White Bulbs 100W/85W. They are much brighter and give you that HID look like the Lexus and Mercedes Benz. The 99 an 00 both use the 9007 bulb. You can find some @ www.ebay.com Just type HID in the search.
When you are installing them, DO NOT touch the bulb! My brother thought he knew what he what doing when installing them on his 99 Tahoe, touched the bulb when installing them, and was able to use them for ONE, yes ONE night before the bulb BLEW UP in pieces! HA! I'm sure he'll let me do the job for him next time. Good Luck

Cobra99, I95 is correct about the fuses. The fuses in your truck will not let an accessory draw enough current to melt wires. If you need to replace a fuse to make theese bulbs work (I do not believe you do) then I would worry. If they light up with the stock size fuse you will not burn up wiring.
Jegs may have been talking about a kit to install an actual hid system, in that case you would need new wiring and probably many other parts.

I talked to ford and found out it would melt.. it would overheat the wires which would make them more brittle.. They said you would have to run a seperate wire to the light switch. Not just the wire that is the main for the fuse block... They sent me a diagram the reason why. I understand but is confusing... I will try to post. But I don't have a scanner.

Did Ford tell you that you have to go to them for the rewiring? Be careful and aware for when they just want to make the few "extra bucks" off you. All dealers are rip offs and always mishandle your truck like if it's any other car. YOUR TRUCK SHOULD MEAN MORE THAN LIFE TO YOU DAMN IT!!!
