Automatic Headlight problem
My connector looks like Geocomp's, is this going to eventually lead to a fire? If I replace the BSM/VSM won't this just happen again? I hate to spend this kind of cash on an 8 year old truck if it won't fix the problem. Thanks in advance.
I too own a 2004 F150. I have an extended cab version 4WD Lariat. I have the same issued. It first occurred to me as I was driving in the early morning hours and noticed my headlights and interior lights pulsing between being on and being off, as if someone were working the headlamp switch. I searched for a year or so trying to diagnose the issue and eventually pinpointed it at the Body Security Module behind the rear seat. I too have a burned pin on my BSM connector though its the bottom pin not the top pin as the OP had. To make a long story short I simply used the switch to activate my lights for over a year as the automatic setting finally stopped working completely. After stumbling upon this post I was willing to give it a shot and replace the wiring connector. First I had to find the correct connector and the OP never stated what it was however with a bit of luck I was able to determine that the BLUE connector on the BSM is called Keyless Entry Module Connector on rock auto with a motorcraft part number of WPT959. Its only around $30 to purchase it and then the hard part is simply learning to depin it. I bought a set of depinning tools on Amazon and the rest is history. I waited a couple of days to make sure my automatic lights were back to working again before posting this but they certainly are. It took a lot of effort to diagnose this problem so I hope this writeup helps others who are looking for the solution to the same issue.
