Blinker problems

Ok, I have a 99 f150 supercab and I currently do not have any blinkers working. My hazzards work but when I need to make a turn and hit the turning signal, nothing comes on.Not either side comes on. I do hear 1 click when I hit the switch bit nothing else. So guess what?? I get pulled over by a cop and thankfully he gives me a warning. So what can be causing this and is it an easy fix? your assistance is needed immediately. Thank you in advance.

If the hazards work, I would say it is the MFS.

The diagram at the MFS shows where the Haz and turn signals feed in, and out, using the same connectors.

You did not say, but do your normal brake lamps work ?

Do the turn signals work in the lane change position ?

If you want to remove and test the MFS, here is the testing chart for it.

New MFS switch is ~ 90.00 + S/H at online sources.

1999 - Ford -F150 -> Mechanical catalog
Electrical -> Chassis Electrical -> Switches -> Multifunction Switch

Thanks Sscully. Yes my brake lamps work. I do not know what you mean when you ask if my signals work in lane change position??? Also, where is the MFS located and how easy is it to replace? Again thanks for your reply

The MFS is the Multifunction Switch. The turn signal level that also had the wipes and high beam switch on it.

It is not too bad, you have to pull the top and bottom covers for the steering wheel column and then unscrew the MFS from the mount, and remove upwards.

Here is a tread on a Taurus MFS, should look similar. This thread was problems with the wipers.

so you are saying if none of my blinkers work, but my hazards, wipers work, that it is the MFS correct? And to get to it and replace it, I need to go into the sterring column correct? Also, you never put a link at the end like you mentioned. Thanks in advance

Sorry, all over the place with that useless posting ( I'll remove another one from the post count )

If the Hazards work, but the turn signals do not, then the problem is contained within the MFS itself, vs the connector in the steering column.
That is another problem, that does not seem to fit your symptoms.

Before replacing the MFS, remove it and test it, don't spend the money until you are sure.

Here is the thread this time ( again sorry lousy editor on that posting )

If the MFS tests good on all circuits ?

The next step is to check the connector back for a good circuit, but we know that is the case, the hazard functions correctly.

Best to remove the MFS, and test it per the chart above.

Where should I purchase one at? I called a Ford dealer and he quoted me like 169.00 for it!!! Also, I read another thread about this problem where a guy cleaned and lubed it and it worked for another 5 years. If it is bad, can it be fixed just like that? thank you sir for all of your help

You can try cleaning it, but if the contacts have been corroded for some time, the plastic could be warped. If you feel like it, worth a try after testing it, to confirm it is bad.

If you want to get one online, they are much cheaper ( odd part, that dealer quoted you 3.00 above list price ?? )

Multifunction switch, f150
f150 1997-03, heritage 2004
MSRP : $166.53
online price :$89.18 + S/H

What happened with the testing ?

2009 ?? do you mean 1999 ? Your profile says 1999, and that is what I have been referring to.
