Whenever my driver side door is open, the truck makes that dinging noise whether the key is in or not. Is there a way to disconnect it?

1997 F150
v6 5-spd

 

Dad's had the same problem, the Key in tab was broken off, and would make the key in ign signal, no matter what.

Pulled the cylinder out, and the tab was just laying in there ( recall this from one of JMC's posts on the topic ).
