Autolamp Adjustment?
Autolamp Adjustment?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search and didn't find a clear answer.
How can you adjust the autolamp feature to have the lights come on a little sooner as it gets dark.
On my way to work I drive thru shadows and the lights are coming on and off frequently.
Also, I had somebody pull out in front of me the other evening. I later relized my lights were not on yet.

I don't think there's any way to make the headlights come on at a higher light level, short of maybe partially "blocking" the light sensor on the dash so that the truck "thinks" its darker out than it really is. You might try doing that with some electrical tape or something. If you could figure out a way to put a piece of shade cloth or screen over it that might work too. You don'd want to block too much of the light or you'll be on full bright all the time.
I think having headlights on during the day at reduced intensity is a BIG safety feature and so I installed a DRL module in my truck. It involved cutting into about six wires behind the dash, which was a bit scary, but the results were worth it.

The dealer adjusted my 1999 after I complained the feature was useless.
The lights came on way after I was comfortable driving.
I don't know that it is an owner adjustment.
They made mine more sensitive to lack of light.
(turned a screw under the dash, in line with the sensor location)

Turn the switch manually until its dark, not hard lol. I usually run my parking lamps and fog lamps at the shade/dim time of the day because I dont want my headlamps on just yet, but still want to aware the fellow motorists.

Fords sold in Canada have to have them by law, so they're standard on those trucks. Ours have what looks like the connector for the DRL relay behind the left headlight, but there's no wires to it and it's missing the electrical connectors.
The module works great! Lights are on at reduced intensity anytime the engine is running unless you set the parking brake, then they're off (which lets you work on the truck with the engine running without the lights).
