Incessant, Periodic, DING!

OK, so my 2001 Expedition had this periodic ding...so I went for the green wire from the ignition, and cut it. I also checked the ignition connection contacts-all good.

Thought it worked for a few minutes, but now everytime I turn on the engine on, it goes through a series of five beeps, five times (I think), and then generally goes away. No warning lights.

While the wire I cut changed something, it has not stopped the beeping. Any other suggestions (other than a mech)...?

You must have cut the wire for the airbag warning light or the bulb failed coincidentally. You are now hearing the redundent alarm for the airbag system.

Probably would have been a good idea to identify the reason for the ding instead of amputating wiring....

Very true, but if you cut enough wires, that darned ding is bound to stop!

LMAO! Yeah it will stop the ding eventually. And the truck! Sorry, that was just too funny to let go. Maybe think about reattaching the green wire.

The wire I cut was from the info I gleaned here.

After the cut, it changed the past periodic "ding" to a mandatory, start up ding, though it will do it every now/then while driving too...

Its Ford's new annoyance package. Brings you insane enough to bring it in to the stealership so you spend $300 to have it turned off only to be automatically turned on in 3 months
